Thanks for spending the day with us yesterday, Pathfinders! 🎃 It was great to have the team on deck helping in the kitchen, preparing pumpkins, and serving our Guests. We love seeing young people get involved and experience what Soul is all about.

Winter can be brutal when you don’t have a safe, warm place to call home.

While many of us rug up indoors, there are people in our community facing cold nights, wet clothes, empty stomachs, and the harsh reality of sleeping rough.

At Soul Hub, we see it every day.

This winter, we’re inviting our community to come together and support people doing it tough through our Winter Appeal.

We’re collecting Winter Warmers including:
Warm jackets
Thick socks
Beanies
Sleeping bags
Chunky soups & other tinned food
Milo, coffee & long life milk

Every item donated helps bring warmth, dignity, comfort, and hope to someone who needs it.

Mandy's Story – “I’ve come a long way”

Mandy is an outgoing, positive-thinking, and vivacious guest. However, this disguises a traumatic past.

Mandy was in a relationship characterised by domestic violence. It took Mandy two years, with police support, to leave the relationship and return to Newcastle. However, the toll that Mandy suffered led to the misuse of alcohol, drugs and a gambling habit.

With the support of friends, Jenny’s Place and Soul Hub, Mandy has found herself in a “good place”. She has accommodation, a supportive network of friends and is keeping fit in the outdoors. At times, Mandy still finds herself struggling, but is exploring detox programs and trauma-based counselling.
We know that Mandy can build on the very positive steps that she has taken so far; there is light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

_______
Mandy’s story is featured in our 2026 Soul Calendar. A huge thank you to our good friends at Steeline Hunter, one of the local businesses sponsoring this year’s Soul Hub Calendar. Their support helps make it possible to share stories like Mandy’s and bring hope and encouragement to others in our community who are doing it tough.
