The New South Wales Government has announced a one-week lockdown for the Hunter and Upper Hunter Regions in NSW from 5pm Thursday 5 August until 12.01am Friday 13 August 2021.

The eight affected Local Government Areas (LGAs) are:

● Newcastle
● Lake Macquarie
● Maitland
● Port Stephens
● Cessnock
● Dungog
● Singleton
● Muswellbrook
As takeaway and delivery of takeaway remains allowed, we wanted to share an update on what we’re doing to help keep everyone safe.

CONTACT-FREE COLLECTIONS AND DELIVERIES

All online orders are contact-free by default, aiming to help people keep the Government-recommended social distance.

You can help this process by:

1. When ordering food for takeaways in-store please make sure you maintain a distance of at least 1.5m and keep distance from your door when you order online for delivery and a delivery person arrives. Your delivery should be placed at the door or noted location by the food courier, following which, they will step back for you to collect your meal

2. When collecting an online order please ensure you maintain social distance by alerting the staff member upon arrival and waiting in a safe space either inside (max 4 people) or outside the door. The restaurant should leave your food on the counter or table, before stepping back for you to collect.

CHECKING INTO STORE

It is a requirement for you to check in using the QR code displayed when collecting orders - no matter how long you are at the venue. See here for more information.

MASKS MANDATORY

The New South Wales Government has made masks mandatory for all of the Hunter and Upper Hunter Regions at all times in indoor areas of non-residential premises and when outdoors next to food and drink premises. This means that masks are mandatory when collecting orders. We strongly encourage you to check the latest advice from the New South Wales Government.

PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT (Updated at 11am, 3 August)
Hunter New England Local Health District is urging anyone who visited the following venues to strictly isolate at home for 14 days from the date below and be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms. Get tested regardless of symptoms, but you must remain in isolation for the full 14 days even if your initial test is negative. If you do develop COVID-19 symptoms, you should be retested.

- Hotel Jesmond on 29 July between 7pm and 9pm
- Wallsend Diggers on 29 AND 30 July between 9pm and 11pm
- Lambton Park Hotel on 30 July between 8pm until 9pm.

This follows confirmation of a confirmed Sydney case who visited Newcastle on 29 and 30 July while infectious.

Hunter New England Health is in contact with the management of the three venues to identify patrons who attended at these times. The venues will be deep cleaned overnight with extra attention to touch points.

Hunter New England Health is still working to contact those who attended the venues at these times and they should be on the lookout for symptoms.

If you were at these locations during these times, you may be at risk of infection and you must strictly isolate at home for 14 days from those dates and be tested for COVID-19. This action is vital to limit the spread of the virus.

We urge everyone to follow directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine, and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing, coughing or sneezing into their elbow, and regularly washing their hands.

Those wishing to be tested can organise a swab via their GP or by attending their nearest COVID-19 clinic.

The drive through clinic at the University of Newcastle continues to operate 8am to 4pm, Monday to Sunday for those who need testing. Call 4964 7497 to arrange an appointment, prior to attending.

Testing is also available through 4Cyte Pathology’s COVID-19 clinic at Central Church Warners Bay (290 Hillsborough Rd). The clinic operates between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 11am Saturdays, and no booking is required. More information can be found on their website at www.medtechservices.net.au
