Happy Father’s Day to the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures in our community.

And a special one to a few of the dads in our own team, who have spent a lot of Father’s Days making sure everyone else gets their coffee, breakfast and pastries.

To everyone spending part of today with us, thank you for letting us be part of your Father’s Day.

A new month, a new book.

Our September Book Club is coming up, and this month we’re reading Flesh by David Szalay, a story of desire, identity, relationships and the choices that shape a life.

Thursday 24 September, upstairs at Autumn Rooms with Betty Loves Books.

Coffee looks pretty simple by the time it reaches the table.

Last week, some of our team travelled to Mareeba in Far North Queensland with our friends at Single O to visit Jack Murat Farm - one of the farms behind Australia’s growing coffee industry.

They spent time on the farm seeing coffee being grown, harvested and processed, and meeting the people behind it. Mareeba and the surrounding region produces the majority of Australia’s coffee, and Jack Murat Coffee alone is responsible for a significant part of that production.

For us, trips like this are about giving our team a deeper understanding of the thing we work with every day. Where coffee comes from, how much goes into producing it, and the people and places behind every cup we serve.

And getting to spend a few days with other people who care about coffee as much as we do isn’t bad either.

A big thank you to Single O and the team at Jack Murat for having us.
