Goodbye Thailand 😢

After a very emotional farewell to the doggo family in Koh Chang we made our way to Bangkok for a final few days of eating and exploring before leaving to our next destination.

Our 6 weeks at the shelter have been testing at times, but we wouldn't change it for the world. These 9 beautiful dogs have made an impact on us for life - I'm sure.

Next up - Back again to Vietnam for dental treatment and lots of healthy eats 🤤

This little fluff ball jumped up on our bench and joined us for morning coffee.
Perfect timing - just when we were missing our sanctuary doggos.

This little man lives in the pet store across the street and comes for cuddles at the coffee shop when he feels like a little adventure. What a perfect life for a Vietnamese dog 😀

Our walk by the river with the dogs was interrupted by a loud plonk. We saw this Red Tail Racer snake fall from the high tree above. As it landed on a rock it stunned itself and us. After a short while, recovering on the rock - they made their way back up the tree via the river.

This island is filled with all sorts of snakes and other creepy crawlies.
The lady at the restaurant we often have lunch at told us the other week that a huge python ate one of her cats in the middle of the night 😯

During our time off, we enjoy taking our scooter and exploring all the corners of the island.
Koh Chang is the third largest island in Thailand, but its size is not immense and it's easy to explore the coastline by bike. The interior is mostly impenetrable with thick green and untouched forest. Still it has so many beautiful spots to stop and admire the views and when you fancy enjoy some local Thai cuisine.

Here is a selection of some of our favourite spots across the island.

Mapeed coffee. Our new favourite discovery 😃
I never imagined the combination of calamansi and coffee would be so delicious and refreshing.
The view is not so bad either 😉

Staying in the sanctuary and looking after the pups, means that we can't always go out for lunch / dinner. The vegan options in the village are nice, but limited and the really tasty food is a decent scooter drive away.

Forced to get creative with our limited kitchen utensils and appliances we have been loving creating meals from the ingredients on offer here in the little village shops. We have especially loved the abundance of fresh herbs on offer including thai basil, coriander and mint.
This is what we have created with limited equipment: one gas stove and a blender.
