🎂💚 A VERY SPECIAL FIRST BIRTHDAY AT NEW FARM SEAFOOD 🇰🇷

There are some moments at New Farm Seafood that remind us that we’re so much more than a seafood market and restaurant. We’re a family, and our customers become part of that family too. 💚

Recently, our Sushi & Sashimi Chef celebrated a very special milestone right here in our restaurant… his son’s very first birthday! 🎉👶🏻🎂

In Korean culture, a child’s first birthday is known as 첫돌 (Cheot-dol), an important and treasured family celebration. And we loved seeing the beautiful tradition carried through on the birthday cake, with 첫돌 proudly written across the top, meaning “First Birthday.”

The cake also features 19.09.2025 the date of his birth. ❤️

It was made even more special with family, friends and some of our wonderful customers stopping by to say hello and celebrate this little man’s big milestone with us.

Now THAT’S a Mackerel! 🐟

Patrick, one of the key members of our Fresh Seafood Market team, is showing off this absolute beauty, caught fresh and delivered straight to our door, ready for us to fillet for you!

And the name? “Holy mackerel!” is an old expression of surprise from the 17th century, (sorry to bore you) with the exact origin a little murky. There are a few theories around how it came about, but today there’s really only one thing to say…

Behind every great local business are great relationships, and this photo says it all.
Michael, Owner & Operator of New Farm Seafood, and Vince, Owner & Operator of Brisbane’s iconic New Farm Deli, have built more than businesses in this community. They’ve built a friendship that is, quite frankly, becoming a little too inseparable. 😂

They support each other, bounce ideas off each other, share a laugh and, most importantly, genuinely care about the local community and the people in it.
And yes… I’m the Marketing Manager, and I have tried to break them up. 🤣
It hasn’t worked. So I’ve given up. They’re clearly a package deal. 😂

Proudly Supporting Our Veterans’ Families 🦘🦐

We had some very special guests drop into the restaurant today! Meet Daniel and Alex, two Australian Defence Force Army Soldiers who are out in our local community fundraising for Legacy Week.

They popped into New Farm Seafood for a quick lunch break and absolutely loved their meal. We love serving our community, and it is an absolute honour to give back to those who serve our country. 🇦🇺

What is Legacy Week?
Legacy Week (Sunday 30 August – Saturday 5 September) is an annual national campaign supporting roughly 40,000 partners and children of veterans across Australia.
