Donna Rosa - La Visciola, Passerina del Frusinate 20

Little-known grape, little-known hills, big personality. Passerina gets its name from the sparrows that keep stealing it off the vine, and once you taste it you’ll understand why. This one comes from the hills south of Rome - Bright citrus, a bit of stone fruit, a salty, slightly bitter snap on the finish.

Drink it with anything from the sea.

This week’s glass pour is Babche Wines Fiano ‘25. Murray Darling fruit from the Merbein vineyard, 11.5%, and a grandmother on the label who’s clearly seen things.

Fiano’s the Italian grape that loves a hot Aussie summer. It’s textural, a bit nutty, and full of citrus. Built for salt air and a plate of whatever is cooking down in the mangroves.

$18 a glass, all week, until sold out.
