It is with a very heavy heart that I have decided to close The Rural Trader on Friday 20th December 2024.

Despite wanting to continue my incredible journey at The Rural Trader, all good things must come to an end.

This decision to close has not been easy but I am so proud of what I have achieved in the past 2.5 years. I’m an all or nothing person and I am proud that I can now invest my time into what’s most important - my family.

To our amazing customers. The generosity, kindness and friendship you have given me is something I will cherish forever. From featuring in our social media videos, taking out furniture, spare change, mowing lawns…the list is endless of what you have done for TRT, my staff and my family.

To my staff, past and present. TRT would NOT exist without you. You have given your all to this business and treated it as if it were your own - all with your own little twist that has made it all the more rewarding. I will never be able to put into words how incredibly special each of you are and how much of an imprint you have left on our lives. A special mention must go to Courtney & Reece and Josh & Lucy who have essentially run TRT for the entirety of this year and I honestly could not have got through without you all, so biggest thank you to you.

Another huge thank you to our suppliers and tradie legends who have kept this wagon rolling albeit sometimes I thought the wagon was in the bonfire!

The girls at . I can’t believe you got a dilapidated old run down corner store dream on the map for this country chick and didn’t we make it into a beauty. Thank you for always giving me a pep up even when times were really tough!

Finally, my friends & family - both near and far. You know who you are. Thank you for the 1,000s of hours you have helped and supported me in every possible way. I am so grateful.

TRT is still on the market and I can’t wait to see what the next go-getter does with it. I often think it could be the next co-working space or air bnb!

From the bottom of my heart - THANK YOU. I hope to see you all over the coming month for your last coffee to round out the year just in time for Christmas.

I will miss you.

Has anyone found the juggle of social media and life all a bit overwhelming as of late? I’ve been in social media hibernation lately as I’ve been spending copious amounts of time with Clementine and my family, hours upon hours in the garden and just keeping up with the rat race of life and running a small business. I spoke recently on the Saltbush Babes podcast about seasons and we as women can have it all but sometimes not all at once - I’ve really felt the pull between home life and shop life and have been so grateful for my amazing staff who have kept the business running like a well oiled machine whilst I navigate this new time. So I’m making a commitment to myself - show up when you can, don’t apologise for not always being present, and post with purpose rather than just filling our feeds with a facade, which most of the time is a little far fetched from reality! Happy Hump Day - and I’ll show up for you when I can! Have a beautiful rest of your week 🤍
Big love
Kat (and Clementine) xo

💚IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT💚
When I first became a mum somebody very wise told me that we have different “seasons”.

I’m in my ‘mum season’, ‘good wife season’, ‘good friend season’ , occasionally ‘farm hand season’, amongst the many other seasons that bless my day to day.

The Rural Trader has been my lifelong passion project that I have always wanted to do. The joy that it not only brings to the local community and travellers alike has exceeded every expectation of mine and most definitely upheld our motto, expect the unexpected in the bush. Starting The Rural Trader has been the biggest privilege in my life and after a lot of consideration I have decided to sell the business and hand the batten over to the next person. I know that someone amazing with the same drive and passion as me will welcome taking it over just as much as I have, albeit in a different season to me.

They say in our life and we as women can have it all, but sometimes we can’t have it all at once.

So for now, trading will continue as normal and Josh, Lucy and I will still be serving you delicious food and coffee with the same service and smile you know.

All enquiries for the sale of The Rural Trader can be directed to us via social media or directly to Kat via the contact details on the link in our bio.

I look forward to what the future lies ahead for this beautiful store, the heart of the highway, with the same passion and purpose in our local community.

Just in case you haven’t been into TRT in the last week - the OG’s Josh & Lucy are back in Nev and are with us for the rest of the year. A quick trip through coastal & outback Australia, a whirlwind journey back to the UK and somehow all in the space of 6 months they just missed us so much and had to come back. They look forward to seeing you all at TRT ☕️ 🥓 🍳💚

After 6 months, our time at TRT has officially come to an end as we get ready to continue our adventure and head off on our next road trip🚐

It has been an amazing experience that we will cherish forever and we will miss it so much. Thankyou to everyone that has taken the time to make us feel so welcomed into this amazing little community, we have met some incredible people along the way and we are extremely grateful for that.

We wish you all the best
Courtney & Reece 🤍

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve really been ‘present’ on socials as I navigate motherhood, “routine”, body dysmorphia, running a business and just all round trying to keep the wheels turning and keeping the wagon out of the bonfire 🔥 I have the best support network and people around me cheering me on and someone very close to me said that sometimes we just have to show up, be vulnerable and give it a red hot crack - albeit quote “a rowdy/wild show”. You know who you are 😉 so here I am - showing up - keeping the wheels turning and my god I’m in love with all the new arrivals from . Feeling a million dollars in these beauties that are now available both in store and online 🤍 so here’s to showing up and feeling fabulous - I hope you love the collection as much as I do 🥳🔥
Ps: last pic really depicts mum life at its best - strained wrist tendons as Clem is a big girl and the old wrist ain’t holding up 😂
