First cultivated during the 15th century in Arabia Felix (Yemen), coffee began to reach the wider world by the 16th century and
entrench itself in society. By the early 17th century, London coffee houses (or ‘penny universities’ as they were called, due to the wealth of information that was discussed over a cup of coffee) had became the centre of everyday life.
