We sold out last night but we have had one bad review from a customer who we went out of our way to deliver to - one - Apparently our $30 BBQ pack is “daylight robbery” and not tasteful.
SHOCKER!
So let’s actually break down the “robbery”.
We source our meat from the butcher. We could buy cheaper meat from the supermarket and increase our margin, but we choose quality instead.
In one BBQ pack:
Lamb chops — $4.60
Sausage — $2.50
Egg — $0.50
Cassava — $3.00
Salad — $0.50
Sauce - $0.50
Container — $2.00
That’s $13.60 before marinade, seasoning, labour, preparation, cooking, gas, transport and delivery.
So how much are we really left with from that $30?
Almost nothing.
As for how we cook our BBQ — we won't be changing it.
Our BBQ is made the way we know it from the streets of Suva. That's what we're reproducing. We're not pretending to be fine dining or a high-end restaurant.
If you're looking for high-end food, go somewhere else. Spend your money with a big business that probably doesn't need your $30 as much as a small local business does.
But don't buy from us, accept the effort we made to accommodate and deliver to you, and then take your complaint into a group chat and direct your rudeness at my sister.
She is not our complaints department, and we will not let her cop abuse on our behalf.
If you have a genuine complaint about The Oasis, have the courage to bring it to The Oasis. This page is right here. Message us directly.
You are entitled to say you didn't enjoy the food. You're entitled to believe it wasn't worth your $30. We can take criticism and we can take a bad review.
What you don't get to do is confuse paying $30 for a meal with buying the right to personally attack or bully someone else.
So before that smart mouth starts throwing around “daylight robbery” again, let those costs sink in.
$13.60 before we've marinated it, cooked it, packed it or delivered it to you.
Then ask yourself who's actually making a killing from your $30.
Because it certainly isn't us.
