On ya KD! We love ya work.

Kevin Douglas from Mount Gambier is the kind of bloke every town quietly runs on.

He’s spent more than 50 years volunteering around the community — organising Christmas Day lunches for people who had nowhere to go, helping feed locals through Sunset Kitchen, mentoring kids who were struggling at school, and raising money for charity through greyhound racing.

The really beautiful part is where it all started. Kevin lost his dad Les when he was little, and the town of Waikerie basically wrapped around his family — helping pay for the funeral, raising money for a house, and making sure the kids were looked after.

Decades later, Kevin reckons that stuck with him. Community looked after him, so he spent his life doing the same for others.

Proper old-school Aussie goodness. The type of bloke who doesn’t make a song and dance about it, just shows up.
