Open Letter to My Local State MP on the Fi****ms Reform Vote

I’ve chosen to make this an open letter.
This is not about personalities or party politics.
It’s about how elected representatives vote when it matters.

I watched the parliamentary debate in full. Words were said. Votes were cast.

This letter addresses the vote.

Dear Ms Aitchison,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment at your decision to support the fi****ms reforms contained within the Terror Bill.

I watched the parliamentary sitting in full, including your speech. What stood out was that much of what you said acknowledged concerns I — and many others — share: issues of proportionality, effectiveness, unintended consequences, and process. On substance, your words aligned closely with opposition to key aspects of the bill.

Yet when it mattered, you voted in favour.

That contradiction is not lost on those who were watching.

In moments like this, speeches do not matter. Votes do. And your voting action has made your position clear.

Until now, my public platforms have not been politically motivated. I have deliberately avoided partisan campaigning, choosing instead to focus on professional work, lawful fi****ms use, and the realities faced by regional and rural Australians.

That position has now changed.

I operate a large public platform with an audience of approximately 760,000 people. That audience includes licensed fi****ms owners, rural operators, regional families, and voters who are increasingly sceptical of rhetoric that is not matched by action.

Your decision to support this bill was not viewed in isolation — it has become a defining data point in how your broader political judgment and priorities are assessed.

In the lead-up to the next election, my platforms will be used to openly and factually examine:
- how elected representatives vote when it counts,
- how those votes align (or fail to align) with their public statements,
- and how broader political actions impact lawful, compliant citizens and regional communities.

This will not be limited to one bill or one issue. It will be about patterns, credibility, and accountability.

You are entitled to say whatever words you choose in Parliament. But words do not override actions.

Your voting record — past, present, and future — will be part of a wider public conversation that many voters are now actively seeking.

Public sentiment already appears to be shifting. Increasingly, people across NSW are questioning reactive policy-making, rushed process, and legislation that addresses optics rather than root causes.

That shift is real, and it is accelerating.

I will be at the front of that conversation, using my reach to ensure facts, voting records, and political actions are visible and understood as voters approach the ballot box.

This email is not written in anger. It is written with clarity.

Your vote has consequences — not just on this bill, but on how your role in Parliament will be judged going forward.

Kind regards,

Nathan Stuart
