Well.. that's a wrap mes amis 🙏
We took our final bow last night. Thank you to everyone who ordered like crazy over the past few weeks.
To Tom and Maggie for coming in every night to grab food in our last two weeks to share a final smile together. To Kristin who specially came in without an order not to buy any food but to genuinely say thank you and goodbye. Thank you to Don who was always "is good", to Michael the criminal, to the guy who looked like John from The Angels. To all our favourite Sarah's: watermelon dress and tiny English, to Sue and Kathryn, to Friday night Tracey, the lady who owns a timber yard, Emily and her wild hair and crazy family, to all the Jake's, Alex's and Peter's whose names I always got wrong... To Brendan Poutine and one choc tart, to Andrew and Sue and their beautiful daughters, our one and only Vaughan, Tesla Leanne and quarter chicken breast only Steve. To Ash and Daphane and the baby girls that grew with our shop, to the guy that tried to sing Gangsta's Paradise for a free dessert, to Tuesday and her son who specially created a song called "Max, Max the chicken man" and to Tezza, Gazza, Woop Woop and a chicken every Friday Wanting...
To Bueller, to Phil & Sam who were always late picking up orders (haha), to weekend bread Ross & Sam, to John & Maryanne and to John and Marie, to Joe with a 1/2 chicken cut in 2 please, to Dave who always got a cauli and pumpkin to eat with his fish, to Nellie, all of our Rachaels, Chloe's, Fiona's and Kate's, to Maria McInness who loves the bubbles to Mae who loved our Chablis, to Wayne two gravy and chips, to Rod and Jenny, to our baker Bill, to our Mead friend and more...
To the many gifts we received, the heartfelt cards, the 200+ messages of support and love.
To our new friends, our old friends, our best friends. To our suppliers, our landlord, our gorgeous, patient and truly beautiful staff. To everyone who came in, to everyone who loved us and shared in our spirit and were kind to us and our staff, (sorry if you didn't get a mention, it doesn't mean you're any less important, just that my frazzled Sunday hungover brain is working through 3 years of memories slowly...)...
This... This is what community is all about. We had so many of you come to us over the past 3 years and share SO much of your lives with us, from marriages, to babies to trips, to awards, birthdays and anniversaries. We shared your pain through deaths, and we sympathised with you when you weren't coping. You brought us gifts from your homes... Pictures, drawings, homemade food and produce, you gifted us wines and beers and just gave us your best selves each time you came in and for that we are forever grateful.
We hope that whatever you do in your future, is full of joy, full of love and that you choose to be happy. This decision for us is a happy one 🫶 One thaf we're super excited about and at the same time very sad to say goodbye ☹️
We've had SUCH a mental time getting to know so many of you and we will never ever forget that time we decided to take a crazy adventure in Croydon to open a chicken shop for the community.
Thank you for being such precious memories in our journey.
Our socials will stay open, so please, any time, drop us a line for a chat or catch-up.
We love you, and thank you 💗 au revoir et merci beaucoup
