Final lunch together…
Thank you to our staff, our amazing volunteers and our wonderful Committee- some members serving on this Committee since the creation of this service 30yrs ago. Thank you to our newer members for taking us on! Special mention goes to our treasurer William “Bill” Clarke who has always been an advocate and support for we staff, who always ordered dessert with “the works” and gave us his time and services in exchange for a cappuccino… Our Manager Deb because a good service is only as good as it’s Leadership- thank you for letting this 2IC blow the limited budget many a time over to exact the vision I had and trust the process even when it seemed left field. For letting me do what I do best. Gaye- “The Fixer” cool under fire but always hot! Crazy high finance, crowd control, taxi of meals to those in their homes and the funniest co-worker there is. We always sent you out if we messed up or on the rare occasion there was a complaint because it is literally impossible for anyone to be mad at you. Amy, you were sent to me/us to teach you and you ended up teaching us a lot too…Watching you go from a nervous student to a thriving staple and favourite among our clients who treated you like a Granddaughter. Helen, the longest serving of us all, Joe- Master of Ceremonies, the Gentleman with the riske jokes who also ran meals to those in need weekly- always everyone’s friend. Jen’s- you finally got a uniform and look what happened! 😂 I say “Thank you for the Music” and all of the books. Betterconnected are lucky to have you. Robert- you taught us all a language without words, thank you for your work in the Engine Room- we wish you all the best Mate. This was a family affair with my daughter Willoe (confusing the clients as Amy’s lookalike), husband, Dad and brothers all giving hours to this service. Gaye’s husband always swinging by after a large event to help lug tables around and clean up whatever mess too. This is a very hard goodbye and a very big chapter closed. We wish all of you the very best in your endeavours and hope we gave you some great memories of our little Restaurant and Service.
That’s a wrap ###
