Since launching Sunshine Meats in 1988 as a small butcher shop in Redfern, owner Joe Pereira had a vision to create a range of smallgoods unique to the Australian market. Joe used his Portuguese heritage to develop a range of gourmet smallgoods which now includes the famous Double Smoked Chilli Chicken Breast and its companions, Lemon Pepper, Portuguese and Mild Smoked Chicken Breast, turkey produ

cts including smoked and oven roast turkey breast, hams, bacon and speck, Portuguese salami, coppa, and chorizo, chicken chorizo, black pudding, farinheira, smoked beef and gourmet sausages. The Chilli Chicken Breast was the first product of its kind to combine two whole double chicken breasts flavoured with Joe’s unique combination of spices and double smoked using natural wood chips. Available through a network of distributors, Sunshine Meats products can be found at delicatessens, supermarkets and specialty stores across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Our Christmas hams are flying out the door, but we still have bone-in and boneless hams available and we're open for all your last-minute charcuterie needs. Pick up some chorizo, smoked chicken, oven roasted turkey and plenty of smoked duck to keep you well-fed over the Christmas period. We also have some fresh meat available including our famous marinated frango, bifana and prego packs.

Our opening days and hours are as follows:

Saturday 20/12 - 8am to 3pm
Monday 22/12 - 8am to 3pm
Tuesday 23/12 - 8am to midday (LAST DAY FOR 2025)

SEE YOU SOON!

After 14 years of serving the local community, we have decided to put our deli/café into winter hibernation. This decision has not been made lightly as we love welcoming our regulars and meeting new people to our café. But staff shortages mean we cannot continue to serve you as we would like, so we’re taking a break while we regroup and recharge.

LET’S BE CLEAR: Sunshine Meats is NOT closing down. We are continuing to produce the best quality award-winning smallgoods that you know and love. Keep asking for our products at your local deli, or order from us online for pick up or home delivery. We’re only taking a break from the café for a little while.

We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause, in particular to our regular morning coffee customers. We are grateful for your support and we hope to see you soon. This Friday 27/6 will be our last day so we'd love to see you before we shut the door at 2pm.

Please note, we've made some changes to our Saturday trading tomorrow. Due to the expected bad weather, we have made the sad decision to postpone our sale of pre-loved display items until next month. That's right ... we're open this Saturday!

Our deli will be fully stocked with all your favourite Sunshine Meats goodies, and the cafe will be serving our Saturday specials along with our regular menu from 8am to 3pm.

And since it's been a while since we opened on a Saturday, we're celebrating with a huge sale of pre-loved kitchen items and decor lovingly used in our Sunshine Meats displays. It's your chance to finally grab one of the many items that have caught your eye in Maria's Christmas, Easter or year-round displays.
