Hi all. I had a customer ask me about trans fats. We make our icecream naturally using milk, cream and sugar. The milk fats in the cream gives our icecream structure. So our product DOES NOT use trans fats.

Some chains use highly modified hydroginated transfats to give their icecream structure. Transfats are much cheaper than using full cream. These transfats are banned as a carcinogenic in many countries around the world as they can accumulate in the villi in your stomach and cause serious health issues. Unfortunately, its not yet banned in Australia.

This trans fat is so processed its almost a plastic. Usually an easy way to spot it in a shop is the product will be packed high in the display tub and the gelati will be served with a paddle, not a scoop. Also the gelati will taste a bit grainy and will leave a slightly greasy film on your tongue and the roof of your mouth.
