π¬ Have you heard a whisper about The Wayward Wind? π¬
Thereβs an exciting feature film on the horizon, and Metung and the Gippsland Lakes are set to play a starring role.
The Wayward Wind is an Australian feature film being developed for production right here in East Gippsland. Written and directed by filmmaker Robin Summons, who spent much of his childhood in the region, the team are planning production in 2027, with theatrical release planned for 2028.
Set against the distinctive landscape of the Gippsland Lakes, the story follows May, a middle-aged long-haul truck driver whose carefully built life on the open road is disrupted when she is invited to her estranged daughterβs wedding in the lakeside community she once called home.
Residents, businesses and community members are invited to meet the filmmaking team behind The Wayward Wind and learn more about the project at a Community Information Session being held at The Metung Hotel on Saturday 5 September 2026 at 3.30pm.
Join the team to hear more about:
π¬ Why the Gippsland Lakes has been chosen as the home of the film
