Autumn. A whole lot of water, a whole lot of wind. Autumn is how nature starts a compost pile, collecting bark, leaves, seeds, fallen fruit and unused vegetables. Ground is a big fan of Autumn.

Paris Climate Conference, and the world is finally acknowledging man's treatment of soil as a major player in climate change. Soil supports us more than anything: where we stand, where we live, work, eat, grow and recycle. But "as food production has intensified, between 50 and 80 percent of the soil carbon has been lost around the world." How? Simply put, whenever we mechanically dig the soil up for new crops (or farm livestock), we allow oxygen to pe*****te the carbon nestled in the soil, making carbon dioxide. The solution is to stop disturbing the soil, to get back in line with a system which has worked for billions of years. More on soil at the PCC: http://n.pr/1HQzDpC

What's it feel like?
"It's like silky sand. I want to eat it but I know it's for the garden. Running your fingers through it is... kinda mesmerising, hypnotising. I'm addicted. I can feel the life in it. It's ready to do good. If W***y Wonka was an environmentalist, this is definitely what he'd be into."
