Bec’s Unhinged Review:
Harvey Norman
Harvey Norman is the only shop in Australia that somehow operates in two completely different dimensions.
You’ll either have 17 salespeople standing at the front door like they’ve been tipped off a celebrity’s arriving.
“G’day! How ya going? Need a hand? Looking for anything? You right there? Need a trolley? Want to finance a toaster?”
Mate… I haven’t even crossed the welcome mat yet. I don’t even know why I’m here.
Or…
You’ll spend the next 32 minutes wandering around the joint looking for someone to serve you. It’s like playing Where’s Wally, except Wally is on smoko permanently.
You’ll do three laps of the TVs, accidentally learn the specs of every washing machine ever made, sit on six recliners questioning your life choices, and start forming an emotional attachment to a fridge before finally spotting a staff member.
The second you make eye contact…
Gone.
Old mate disappears through a door marked “Staff Only” like you’ve just activated a stealth mission in a video game.
By the time someone finally serves you, you’ve mentally renovated the spare room, named the robot vacuum, and decided you’ll just buy it online instead.
It’s honestly one of the greatest retail mysteries in Australia. You’re either being hunted… or you’re the one doing the hunting.
