So UncleLip thought he’d give you a little tour of G*i Wong.

Yes, even the cutlery has a story.
And those melamine plates? Very carefully chosen because they take longer to heat up, which means our team is less likely to burn themselves while serving you. 🔥

Because when you run a small restaurant, you think about everything. Even the plates. 😏

And of course, there’s the food.

Our Hainanese chicken rice, roast pork, BBQ pork, fried chicken wings and the other favourites that have kept you coming back since day one.

30 seconds to plate a chicken rice.

Is UncleLip trying to beat a world record? Not quite. He’s just making sure your food gets to you before you get too hungry. 😂

Because at home, making chicken rice is a whole production.

Poach the chicken, cook the rice, make the sauces, chop everything up… and suddenly, half your day is gone. 😅

So why not leave it to UncleLip?

UncleLip doesn’t like to make things easy.

So naturally, when it came to curry mee, he decided we needed TWO versions. 😂

🍗 One with his marinated fried chicken
🐔 One with his OG Hainanese chicken

But truth be told, there’s actually a very simple reason for this.

He wanted the OG.
His wife wanted the fried chicken.

And like every good husband knows…
Happy wife, happy life. 😏

So now you get the best of both worlds.

Two curry mees, two chicken choices, and finally, a little more choice for everyone. 😂💛

Because apparently, making your wife happy means making more curry mee.

At G*i Wong, we’re family.

And like any family, everyone chips in.

UncleLip might be the chef, but he’s also the electrician, plumber, handyman, cleaner… basically the Pau Ka Liao when something needs fixing. 😂

That’s the reality of running a small business. You wear every hat, you learn as you go, and you do whatever needs to be done.

But the most important thing is the people you do it with.

Our team has become family, and family is something UncleLip never wants to take for granted.

That’s why we close every Sunday.

We want our team to have time for the people they love, their own families and loved ones, and also time to spend with God and attend church.

When UncleLip was working in the hotel and café industry, he never had the luxury of time with his own loved ones or the opportunity to regularly spend time with God and be part of church. It’s something he wishes he could have had, and something he now wants his team to have.

Because there will always be another plate of chicken rice to make on Monday.

But time with the people you love, and time with God, are things you can’t get back. 💛
