It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the sudden loss of our friend Bruce Turner. Bruce was a committee member then President of the Rosebud RSL for many years. He was an advocate for veterans not only his own but the wider community. His passion and dedication for the RSL was recognised at so many levels and his work was tireless, unselfish and as a true servant leader.

But to us at Sorrento Portsea RSL he was all of that and more, he was our friend. Whether it was providing furniture for our club, supporting us in governance, overseeing our AGM (as in the photo), a friendly banter over who was going to win the meat tray during our committee visits to Rosebud RSL, sharing his expertise in club issues or even loaning us his cook for our ANZAC Day gunfire breakfast, Bruce was an unconditional support and mentor.

To Christine and Bruce's family we are so saddened that his well earned retirement was not a long one. Even Bruce would probably see the irony in that. You supported Bruce in his devotion to the RSL and you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

To Bruce thank you for your support, kindness, guidance, laconic wit, expertise, service and memories.

As the song goes , that's when neighbours become good friends, in fact some of you may remember a couple of years ago Stefan Dennis being at one of our big Saturday night music events and jumping on the stage to sing this very song.

Well as neighbours go we can't get any better than our Sorrento Sharks cousins over the back fence. They are always there to help us and we love helping them when needed.

Thanks to their generosity we have 2, 2025 ANZAC Sorrento Sharks guernseys (jumpers/strips depending on your age) to auction tonight.

All monies raised will go towards the great work of Soldier On to assist with their delivery of mental health programmes to assist our veterans.

As this is a very special auction and we are aware it's Easter and a lot of people are away if you want to have a chance of winning this amazing donation and helping a much needed cause you can put a bid in before the auction.
