You’ve probably eaten pasta hundreds of times… but do you know what the word actually means in Greek? 👀
When most people hear pasta, they think of Italy — spaghetti, penne and all those delicious Italian dishes.
But in Greek, πάστα means something completely different: a small, individual pastry or dessert, usually enjoyed in a variety of flavours.
And it’s more than just a sweet treat. In Greek culture, it’s common to bring pastas when visiting someone’s home, offer them to guests, or share them when celebrating a special occasion.
So while pasta may take you straight to Italy… in Greece, it might just mean a little box of deliciousness to share🇬🇷
