This was one of the best degustations we've had ever.

A blend of traditional Taiwanese foods and modern creative expression, we really enjoyed our anniversary dinner ❤️

Taiwan really delivers in the vegetarian/vegan world.

Our holiday is almost over, but we return with more ideas and hopefully time to introduce some exciting new flavours.

This has been our 5th visit to Taiwan and whilst the world suggests veganism is shrinking back to a former size, I don't think it is. I think the landscape is changing and all veg*n businesses are needing to push the boundaries more than ever to succeed. Taiwan shows both the oldest most established eateries as well as the new kids on the block have a space in this world, catering to a huge variety of different people, and we love it.

Black Thorn has well and truly found the best foster home possible. He's even got his own private bedroom whilst he is kept separate from the others to with for the all clear.

As you can see his eye looks all good and he is looking almost tip top after antibiotics and medicine from Windsor animal Hospital.

For anyone facing similar problems with an animal in Penang, Windsor Animal Hospital is 24 hrs and were great. Due to dumping problems, they ask for a retainer fee (250-500 RMB) but they were really amazing and kept us in the loop for how Black Thorn was recovering.

Anna first saw our post and remembered him due to our naming him after a very famous durian here. She also spoke with someone from the vet. Fortunately, Anna was able to foster him and within a couple of days everything was settled.

We visited Black Thorn and met Anna and her hubby Jose to see their cat sanctuary on Sunday. I'll post other videos we capture on threads of the whole place.

Biggest thanks to those that contributed to Black Thorn's costs as well as all that shared, commented and helped to get the reels seen by so many!

Anna is the sweetest angel, so please follow her at Anna Rescue as she cares for over 100 animals and as you can see, they are so very fortunate. I'm personally crossing fingers Black Thorn foster fails and ends up residing in this little piece of heaven ❤️

Black Thorn Part 2

So, Black Thorn left for his foster home yesterday...

We plan to visit him on Sunday. We reached out everywhere we could, so far no one has been able to adopt him. We're still crossing fingers hell become a durian farm cat 😹

DM to donate even $5 towards his care in the foster home he's moved to and stay tuned for Part 3 - Foster home ❤️

I had a little cry when we saw our first video of him in his foster carers space and realised he was not going to end up starving on the streets.

😿After a long day of travel, it was easier to give up on this little kitten.

We found him trying to cross the road, meowing and almost getting run over.

His little eye was swollen and he had a little limp.
We fed him in the street, and he fell asleep in this tree bed.
But despite it being 12am, we couldn't leave him like this. His eye would get worse, he was a little wobbly.
So after a lot of messages asking for help, we were recommended to go to the 24 hr vet.

🪷A little pause, with a lot of gratitude.

After a very busy start to the year, we’re taking a short break to rest, recharge and enjoy a well-earned holiday.

Running Woking Amazing and organising The Vegan Vegout and Bake Off events involves plenty of long days, early starts, planning, preparation and physical work behind the scenes. We absolutely love what we do, but we’re looking forward to slowing down for a little while.

Thank you to everyone who has ordered a meal, attended an event, shared our posts, recommended us to friends or supported our small business in any way. Every bit of support means more than you know.

Our final trading day will be Sunday 12th July, and we’ll return on Saturday 22nd August.

Replies to messages and enquiries may be slower while we’re away, but we’ll be back refreshed and ready for everything still to come this year.

Thank you for being part of our community. We couldn’t do this without you ❤️

✨BAK K*T TEH GRAVY ✨
👉🏻 Poutine Palooza (Saturday)

Introducing another special item on the menu for This Weekend only until sold out, just in time for the Poutine Palooza. You know here at woking, we try not to change our menu too much. We know you have your favourites. But, let me introduce you to one of my very favourite thing that Mike and i make together. This gravy is a blend of my home made veganised Bak k*t teh broth which is traditionally “pork bone and medicinal herbs” - think star anise, cinnamon, d**g qai, cloves, soy sauce. I like to make it more like the hokkien style, strong, fragrant, savoury and warming. it’s origin has malaysian, singaporean and chinese roots and the first time i had bak k*t teh was offering food to the monks in the dandenong ranges and meeting a chef who had specially prepared a vegetarian version of it. It completely blew my mind and was like nothing i had ever tried before in my life. Bak k*t teh takes several hours to simmer to bring out all it’s flavour and then it’s onto mike to turn it into gravy. Being british, I think I fell in love with mike that first time he made me a vegan gravy that wasn’t from a packet! So, drop by and see us this weekend to get your hands on our version of a malaysian, british inspired dish made for canada day! We hope to see you all soon!
