Such a glorious day for a reunion.

We had a such a wonderful time in the long-awaited sun welcoming back one of our original kitchen team members MASAKO NODA. We are very jealous of Amsterdam that she now calls the Netherlands home!

Our little 30-Seater has sold 20,000 oysters in two and a half years. Not bad.

With the light peeking through from winters long and dreary tunnel, we’re elated to receive an overseas visit from an original Brico kitchen member and current Amsterdam resident Masako Noda.

Masako put a lot of faith in us when she was introduced in the early days. She tip-toed enthusiastically through a building site littered with empty Peroni cans and stories of our ever evolving vision. We pointed at the grotty, un-renovated cupboard of a kitchen and she surprisingly returned a beaming smile.

We were working things out for the first few months and a lot of the weight was being carried in the (brand-spanking new) hot section as the demand was overwhelmingly a lot more than we’d planned. She made it her domain and frankly set a standard for chefs with a lot more experience to follow.

It’s no surprise to us that she’s gone on to bigger and better things, currently making a name for herself in Amsterdam as Head Chef at Oficina and some bigger plans afoot in the near future.

We owe her a lot and are fortunate she’s set aside some time during a return holiday to Melbourne, cooking lunch at Brico on the 23rd of August but this time we’ll make her stand front and centre on the pass.

A true full circle moment for us and one of our first ever employees. Be sure to book but we’ll keep some walk-in space available along the bar.
