Our Cafe Notturno family,
It’s the END OF AN ERA.
We want to inform you all Cafe Notturno has been sold and will no longer trade as we’ve all known & loved since 1978.
45 years of love, friendship, family & plenty of fantastic memories.
From Lygon street Festas, World Cup soccer & Euros with success in the 1982, 2006 & more recent 2020 through Covid, what an amazing experience.
For myself as the owner for 20 years & 10 years before that working here as a kid my journey with Notturno started back in 1989.
I’ve worked with all owners along the way, starting with Vincenzo, Jimmy & Ellena then to Vito, Stan & Frank, then to Renato, Neil & Alf, then to Peter M.
I want to thank all of them, I’m so grateful for everything they have taught me along my journey & will be forever grateful & each one Is dear to my heart.
Then myself and cousin Sal Germano took over in 2003 which we spent over 15 fantastic years together, who I’m also very grateful & proud to call family. We will cherish all the fantastic moments we had together & memories will last a lifetime. Thank you so much Sal Germano, love you.
A big thank you to all the fantastic people I’ve met along the way. I want you all to know how special it’s been over the 30 years I’ve been here & friendship will last forever.
A special thanks to my current & previous staff who have always been by my side, such as
Dimitrous, Carmela, Maria, Rino, Affan an that’s just to mention a few.
Special thanks to Javier who was very important to me and the cafe.
One of my most important people, Mr Kash Ratnabhas you we’re here with me nearly my entire journey, working alongside me then managing & becoming partner, you have ridden the highs and lows with me, you knew all the finer details that our customers wanted better than me, you understood business you were great with people & customers loved you back. Kash you are gentleman & a man of honour & I’m proud to call you a friend for life,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart & I’m sure I’ll be seeing you very soon.
To my children Elle, Vanessa & Joseph who grew up in Notturno & all worked their way through the cafe over the years I’m so fortunate and proud of all of them, A special thank you to my middle daughter Vanessa who was with me the longest at Notturno who rode the highs and lows with me, she came in as a young girl with low confidence & now walks out with her father a young strong woman who I’m so proud of. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her I Love you & thank you
Lastly to my wife Linda who I met in these four walls back in 1990, Linda didn’t have much to do with business life but made it all possible for me to do what I did at Notturno & I’m forever grateful & now we can focus on our next venture in life with our little grandson Jayden.
Once again thank you for everyone’s support over the years & I will miss Notties so so much, but also very excited for what’s next for me and my family
I also want to wish the new tenant of 179 Lygon street Carlton the very best.
Our last trading day will be Sunday the 27th of August so come down during the week or weekend and say goodbye & have a drink with us one last time.
Nothing much more I can say except
“MEET YOU AT NOTTIES”
Salvatore Cultrera.
