This winter, La Rue Bar and its adjoining courtyard are serving a selection of seasonal specials designed to bring a little warmth to Melbourne’s colder evenings.

Indulge in our new Wood-Fired Bruny Island 1792 Cheese, served with grilled baguette, winter radishes and red endive, or settle in with a glass of La Rue’s Mulled Wine. Inspired by the traditions of European après-ski gatherings and winter markets, these seasonal offerings sit alongside La Rue favourites, including our Wagyu Cheeseburger and loaded hash browns with jalapeños, truffle honey and Comté.

From 4–6pm, enjoy La Rue Hour, featuring a selection of cocktails for just $15, including our Yuzu Paloma, Coffee Negroni and Salty Martini.

Unlike traditional potato gnocchi, Gnocchi Parisienne is crafted from pâte à choux, giving it a lighter, more delicate texture. Ours are folded through a rich cep mushroom purée and paired with a smoky, tangy duxelles of barbecued king brown and shiitake mushrooms. Pickled walnuts add brightness and crunch, alongside crisp fried enoki and wood-roasted chestnut mushrooms. The dish is finished with a velvety black garlic sauce for depth and complexity.

Conceived by Head Chef Andy Roche, the $185pp optional set menu explores the earthy elegance and nuanced complexity of truffle in its many expressions, each dish composed with balance and indulgence, using the finest local seasonal produce.

This year, we’re thrilled to be sourcing our truffles from on the Mornington Peninsula. Carefully harvested at peak maturity, these truffles bring exceptional depth, aroma and a true sense of place to every dish.

Guests can also pre-order an exclusive Black Truffle Cultured Butter, created in collaboration with and hand crafted in the Yarra Valley using traditional French techniques.

Our food and beverage teams have put the final touches on a menu inspired by some of our favourite French regions. With just a few weeks to go, we’re excited to unveil some of the places we’ll journey through, for one night only:

Lorraine, Jura, Bourgogne, Provence, Loire and Bretagne, with a few other surprises to be expected along the way.

From region-specific ingredients to iconic dishes elevated the Reine way, alongside overlooked wine appellations, artisan drinks, and what might just be — in our opinion — one of France’s most underrated cocktails, this is the best of France off the beaten path, experienced in the comfort and elegance of Reine & La Rue.
