And just like that, it’s our final night.

Tonight we’ll serve our last dinners, pour our last glasses and close the doors on Comma for the final time.

We’re proud to have kept a 4.8/4.9 review average but more than the numbers, we’re grateful for every person who took the time to share their experience, leave a kind review, give us feedback, recommend us to a friend or simply come back through our doors.

Tonight, we’re unofficially sticking around for a few drinks after dinner service, so come and help us move the last of the kegs and wine. We’d love to have empty fridges and shelves by tomorrow!

And if you’d like a little piece of Comma to take home, we’ll also have packs of four of our glassware for sale.

Doors are open from 5pm. Come say goodbye. Thank you for everything. 💚🥂

Two nights to go… the end feels like it has come up so quickly all of a sudden. It’s the final weekend, TGIF!

There are some limited spots for tonight for booking online or walk ins, and so if you’ve been wanting to come by, please do so as tomorrow is close to capacity.

Looking at this photo we never did find out who stole our ceramic sardines that we brought all the way from Portugal that used to hang on this wall… 🐟🐟

Four days to go… Tonight is our final Steak night and we are pretty much at capacity, with the exception of early tables around 5pm or after 8pm.

Then Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Check out availability online, we’d love to fill the tables up before we bow out for good.

Remember that time we made it onto Postcards? 🎬 When the email from Channel 9 producers landed in our inbox we initially thought it was spam. They were doing a piece on Moorabbin and wanted to feature us as part of an up and coming dining scene in the area, which is just one of the pinch me moments we’ve had over the years.

With only one and a half weeks left, this weekend’s tables are filling up, we can take a couple of early walk ins tonight or bookings after 8pm. A few tables still available to book tomorrow night.

It’s official. Our final service will be Saturday 5 September.
That means just three Saturdays left to come and have a meal, share a drink, catch up with friends and enjoy Comma one more time.

If you’ve been meaning to come in one last time, we’d genuinely love to see you. It’s been great seeing a lot of old and new faces over the last few weeks and we even have a couple of new dishes on the pass that we’re excited for you to try.

Bookings are open online, and as always, walk-ins are welcome where we can fit you.

Not many Friday nights left at Comma… but we’re still going until the fat lady sings (not sure if we are allowed to say that anymore!?) If you enjoy a bit of spice, sticky, sweet and crunch, this is one of the tastiest snacks that packs a punch - a must try.

Throwback to the early days and sharing a few of the many write-ups we received in that first year of opening.

We’re incredibly grateful to the food writers, reviewers and photographers who took the time to visit and profile our little Moorabbin venue.

Opening during a period of lockdowns, restrictions and uncertainty for hospitality was something we never could have planned for. But the exposure these pieces gave us helped get our name out there and brought many new faces through our doors.

At the time, it all felt pretty surreal, and so unexpected. The excitement of opening up the paper and seeing your name and Matthew Woodhouse incredible food will stay with us always! Thank you x

Lucky for camera roll timestamps because this time feels like such a blur. Before any food, wine and patrons in the dining room, there was this.

An empty site, remnants of an old aquarium (who remembers this?) a half-finished build, and the original mural our mate and artist Chia Chia painted on the external wall.

Unfortunately once the mural was finished, we stood back and realised it looked a lot like COVID germs 🦠. Given it was a highly controversial subject at the time, we decided we had to repaint and start over. Sorry Chia 🫣

Looking back at these photos we remember the big dreams, excitement, blood and sweat, long days and nights and a feeling of stepping into the unknown. Our kids were still little, the venue was still just an idea taking shape, and we can admit now we were pretty unprepared for what was to come.

Six years later, it’s pretty special to look back at where it all started and see how far we came.

If you ask us, these rotating pasta specials are underrated. Chef Joel makes everything from scratch, with the best produce and ingredients and it’s pure love on a plate. It comes across when you have the first bite.

We shared some big news yesterday, but tonight is business as usual - we’re grilling steak over coal, pouring wine, and getting ready for a busy Wednesday service.

🥩 O’Connor pasture-fed hanger $40

Both served with triple cooked chips and zucchini slaw to share.
