There really is something special about pressing pause on normal life for a little while.

Every year we head back to the US and Greece for my husband’s work and to spend time with family. By the time we land home, I’m always exhausted. Six weeks of different beds, different routines, airports, jet lag and kids who somehow have even more energy than usual.

Am I rested? Absolutely not.

Is my heart completely full? Absolutely.

There is something so beautiful about watching your children’s world get bigger.

Watching them realise they’re loved by people on the other side of the world, not just the family and friends waiting for them back home in Australia. Watching little pieces of their personalities emerge that maybe don’t get the chance to at home. My six-year-old became the “cool Aussie kid” at summer camp in New York, and I’ve never seen him stand quite so tall.

And then there was my village.

My original village.

At one point there were 12 childhood friends all under the one roof with their kids. My kids were surrounded by adults who have known me since I was their age. There was always someone ready to kick a ball, build Lego, read a book or say “yes” to whatever they asked to play. Endless time. Endless patience. Endless love.

As parents, we’re usually the ones carrying everything. For six weeks, I got to watch other people carry a lot of it instead. It reminded me how much parenting was always meant to be shared.

The boys rode a yellow school bus. Ate the absurdly processed American school lunches (which, thankfully, remain a once-a-year novelty 😂). Stayed up later than normal. Lived outside our carefully planned routines.

And honestly? I think that’s good for all of us.

Travel can be chaotic. It’s expensive. It throws every schedule out the window. But it also gives our kids something that can’t be packed into a lunchbox or scheduled into an after-school activity: perspective, belonging, confidence and memories they’ll carry long after they’ve forgotten the jet lag.

So now we’re home.

Back in the kitchen. Back to cooking. I can’t wait.

And feeling incredibly grateful that home exists in more than one place.

August menus have landed 🍲❄️

Three brand new dishes are joining the lineup this month: 🇫🇷 French Chicken Stew (Coq au Vin), 🍤 Thai Fried Rice with Garlic Grilled Prawns, and 🥙 Slow Cooked Lamb Shawarma.

Alongside them? All of your winter favourites. Think fall-apart brisket, creamy osso bucco, rich rendang and comforting curries - slow-cooked, nourishing meals to make the busiest nights feel a little easier.

Pre-orders are now open for the whole month. Order week by week, or lock in a subscription and let dinner look after itself.

Today you ran out the door in your pyjamas to try and catch a cloud.

It lasted all of thirty seconds, but I thought about it for the rest of the day.

How beautiful childhood is.

How children can find wonder in things we’ve stopped noticing. How a cloud can still feel close enough to touch.

And how hard it is, as parents, to protect that.

To make space for boredom, imagination, nature and wonder amongst the overscheduling, overstimulation, overthinking and overconsumption. The constant pressure to do more, buy more, be more.

Sometimes the most magical moments happen when we do less.

And then I thought about something else.

I think we’ve entered what some parents call the golden years.

That stretch of childhood where they’re old enough to be independent, funny, thoughtful and genuinely great company. But you’re still their favourite person.

They still want to tell you every thought that crosses their mind. They still reach for your hand. They still invite you into their world.

One day you’ll stop trying to catch clouds.

You’ll have friends to see, places to be, and a whole world that feels bigger than us.

But for now, we’re still the centre of your universe. And I wish I could pause here just for a little while…

We cook on Mondays so our customers can receive fresh meals on Tuesdays.

That includes six Monday public holidays every year.

Small business owners know the maths. Public holidays are expensive. But our customers still need to eat that week, and we still want those meals arriving on doorsteps the next day.

So most public holidays in our family look like this.

I’m lucky to have a husband who doesn’t ask why we’re working. He just asks what time we need to be at the kitchen.

And honestly, New Bub Club wouldn’t exist without this guy quietly showing up behind the scenes on his days off.

❤️

If meal prep isn’t happening this long weekend, let us take care of dinner next week.

We’ve got three incredible dishes on the menu:

✨ NEW! Beef Stroganoff – tender slow-cooked beef, premium mushrooms and a rich, creamy sauce.

✨ Beef Rogan Josh – beef marinated in our house blend of spices, seared in ghee and simmered in a tomato and yoghurt sauce.

✨ Chicken Cacciatore – one of our all-time best sellers. Packed with vegetables, lean protein and so much flavour.

All of our meals are family-friendly, low on spice and high on flavour, making dinnertime easy for everyone around the table.

⏰ Orders close Sunday at 10pm
🚚 Fresh delivery Tuesday or Wednesday across Victoria
❄️ Available frozen in NSW for Friday delivery

Why does our chicken soup turn to jelly in the fridge? 🤔

Because we make our broth from scratch.

We slowly simmer chicken and vegetables for hours, extracting flavour and nourishment into the broth. During the cooking process, collagen breaks down into naturally occurring gelatin, which is what gives the broth its rich texture. As it cools, that gelatin sets, creating the wobbly texture you see here.

For tired new parents, it’s the kind of nourishing meal that’s easy to heat, easy to eat and packed with nutrients.

Once reheated, it melts back into the silky soup our customers love.

No stock cubes. No shortcuts. Just real broth, made the slow way. ❤️

Everything we’re cooking this week so you don’t have to 👩‍🍳

This week we’re bringing back our Greatest Hits Box, featuring three of our most-loved meals: Lasagna, Chinese Chicken & Sweet Corn Soup, and our bestselling Butter Chicken.

We recently saw a ready-made meal company selling single serves of lasagna that weighed 250g. Maybe that’s enough for some people, but we don’t believe in hangry families over here.

Our lasagna slices weigh in at a generous 450g each, because we know many of our customers are breastfeeding mums, hungry parents, growing kids, and families who need a proper meal, not a snack pretending to be dinner.

As always, everything is cooked from scratch using real ingredients, packed with flavour, and delivered ready to heat and eat on those nights when life is busy and everyone is asking what’s for dinner.

Orders close Sunday at 10pm
