Hi everyone, it’s us again, the team behind Future Sushi and Future Izakaya. Massive apologies to anyone trying to book for this last weekend, or to anyone who has made the journey out to visit us and found us closed. Our landlord decided to steal our keys mid-service after we defaulted by just a single week, telling staff they shouldn’t bother turning up on Saturday. Something he retracted a few days later but we now don’t trust our equipment in his building so have decided to exit.
Like us, many small businesses are still dealing with the aftermath of covid 19 and need you more than ever. Be it the effects of reduced foot traffic and trade, with no chance of a rent review, or dealing with the relentless demands from landlords to repay deferred rents caused by prolonged lockdowns, to the continued national crisis with staff shortages, it’s a tough time for hospitality.
Add to that the price of vegetables is now two-three times the usual price - not great for people like us who deal in only green currency, to now trying to squeeze 14 VIC public holidays of double time payments into our budget - without a big space to trade - it’s near impossible. But we will be back, we promise you that.
We have had to keep quiet while we sought legal advice and are now able to confirm that, while we deal with our landlord on the side, we will be working and selling sushi, very shortly, out of a kitchen in St. Kilda.
As we depart our home in Collingwood we would like to say a massive thank you for your love and support on everything we have done. You are an incredibly supportive community. Your gratitude is what has kept us going through the good times and bad and we hope to see you really soon.
