It features rare beef (tái) that is seared in a hot pan/wok before being added to the broth 🥩 This method adds a slightly different texture and flavor compared to the usual phở tái, where the raw beef is cooked directly in the hot broth 🤤 The searing process brings out the beef’s natural flavors and creates a more robust taste 👍🏻

Just a few minutes walk from Marrickville station there is a northern vietnamese style restaurant that’s known for their Bún Chả 🤤🤤

We ordered their top sellers ⬇️
• Com sườn nướng (pork chop with rice)
• Beef Combination Pho Stir Fry Beef + Beef Brisket
• Bún Chả (Vietnamese Grilled Pork With Vermicelli)

Drinks
Iced Peach Tea 🍑
Iced Strawberry Tea 🍓

Our highlight was as mentioned Bún Chả the meat had alot of flavour and chargrilled 👌 with pickled vegetables and dipping sauce (mix of sweet/sour)

Pho broth tasted much lighter than expected and they gave heaps of greens 🍃

Com sườn nướng big portion for sure 👏 its a dish I always order at other vietnamese restaurants and this taste similar 🤩 with alot of pork chop, rice, lettuce and pickled veggies

The drinks were really refreshing for the hot weather we loved the strawberry iced tea! 🍹

my first time trying Northern Vietnamese cuisine and I was impressed! 🇻🇳 you MUST try the pho because the broth is so light and tastes so clear 😋 (we’re still thinking about it). recommend adding some garlic or homemade chilli to the broth, as it elevates the taste to a whole other level 🥰

they’ve got a new menu with bun cha, so make sure to go hungry ✨🥢

It’s a must‑go when you’re craving authentic pho, especially if you like your broth clean and flavourful, and your meats well‑prepared. Great place for both pho enthusiasts and people wanting to try something a bit different from the norm 🇻🇳✨

What we ordered:
🍚 Special combo rice dish with 2 protein choices $22

🍜 Beef combination pho: stir-fried beef + beef brisket (L$23) - pho is Northern-style so the broth is lighter and clearer compared to southern pho. It doesn’t come with bean sprouts, lime or herbs on the side, which I learned is authentic for northern-style.

🥗 Bun Cha with grilled lemongrass pork with vermicelli & salad ($15) - Authentic, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. A must-try for anyone seeking the true taste of Vietnam.

🍜 Spicy beef noodle Bun Bo hue (L$22) - I love this!! The spiciness level is just perfect. 🤤!!

pho viet xua 1919 has fully converted me to a northern vietnamese food lover. it really takes the right restaurant to show you just how delicious a regional cuisine can be, and this was the perfect example. they’re serving up their new menu, and on it is their bun cha (grilled pork vermicelli), which was so good. loved the sauce so much, loved the meat as well. my favourite vietnamese dish is bun bo hue, and i always get it everytime i eat vietnamese (as long as they have it!). i ordered it here and it was so good, i was drinking up all the soup. same with the combination bread pan, which was the most delightful medley of textures and flavours. and of course, highly recommend their coconut cream coffee, we couldn’t stop drinking it ! (and also apologies for my botched pronunciation of the vietnamese foods)

✨It is believed that the flavour of Phở wouldn’t be complete without some crunchy fried dough sticks aka “breadsticks” 🤩

👩🏻‍🍳There’s no right or wrong way to eat this breadstick, but the most popular ways must be dipping the broth 🍲 Some eat breadstick before starting with the noodle and the broth, others prefer to enjoy breadstick, beef, noodles, and broth in one bite. A few people, however, “save the best for the last” 😂

Once done with all the noodles and beef, they would dip all the breadstick into the broth and enjoy a whole “bowl of cruller”. Squeezing some lime or chili sauce and try the food like eating a snack is also recommended 👍🏻
