On the 24th October 2018 our little family took on the greatest business challenge..
Our small team started working hard on giving the gluten free and vegan community what they wanted, good wholesome food with great customer service with a few plants and decor to make them feel warmly welcomed and relaxed..
In under a year we won awards and then some more, representing the small city of Albany, then the state and nationally..
By 2020 I was named business person of the year, and 2021 saw my first published book, youtube video and podcasts and many trips to Perth for award nights..
What an absolute ride of determination and hard work that paid off ten fold..
Lets not forget covid when the world went mad, we had a few weeks off and pivoted to still provide the same amazing service..
Up to 18 hour days certainly took their toll on me personally and despite all of the success we had no choice but to close down due to my cancer diagnosis..
From working so hard to not being able to even walk took its toll emotionally and I am certainly not the same person I once was..
However I am grateful for the gift of still being alive, for every step I get to take, and the every morning I wake up breathing, I have learnt so much through the struggle and live life so different now.
I am so proud of the person who I have become, the people I have met along the way and the amazing business I once had..
I may not have what I once use to, however I have my life and the wonderful memories..
And a future I am excited for!
Happy Friday and many Thanks to all the amazing humans that made Alkaline Cafe the success it was!
