The vines slow down, the Barossa ranges turn moody and green… and suddenly those long lunches just feel different 🍷

There’s something really special about sitting at the Monkey Nut Café and watching the Barossa change around you 🍇

One minute the vines are bright green and bursting with life… the next they’re glowing gold and red as the seasons roll on.

Every few months, the view feels completely different, yet somehow just as beautiful as before.

Whether you’re tucked away in the warmth of the Dedication Room, soaking up the atmosphere under the marquee, or sitting out on the veranda with a coffee or glass of wine in hand… the views across the Barossa Ranges are simply breathtaking.

Sometimes we have to stop and remind ourselves just how lucky we are to call this little corner of the world home ❤️

It’s more than lunch, coffee, or wine tasting here… it’s the feeling of slowing down for a moment and taking it all in - what a beautiful little spot 😎

No matter what happens in our little café from here… I will always remember the humble beginnings 🤍

The days where we would welcome 10 people for lunch.
The days where Mother’s Day was capped at 100 guests.
The days where we as family worked on the floor… and that was just about enough staff.

And now…

This Mother’s Day we are completely booked out.

~ 4 sittings booked out in the café, both indoor and outdoor, across morning and afternoon
~ 150 guests booked for our Mother’s Day picnic, with a further 75 on the waitlist… all within 7 days of launching the idea
~ Our two High Teas (Saturday & Sunday)… both sold out
~ The family still on the floor… alongside 16 incredible team members

And then this morning… an email to say Kies Family Wines has been recognised in the top 10% of places to visit worldwide 🤯

I honestly don’t think I will ever get over this.

Our team now… they are world class...

The way they care for people, it’s something really special. I hear it from the office some days and it makes me so proud.

And the wine…
To stand in the café and point to the vines where it’s grown, that will never not mean something to me.

I don’t think I will ever be able to fully thank you all for your support…

Other than to say just how much it means.

And it means the world 🤍

Right, let's chat about Mother's Day...

So i've been ringing around looking for a solution for Mother's Day for our family...

~ I don't want a set menu because we have young kids and may need to leave at a moments notice...

~ I don't want a formal lunch setting because my kids won't sit still and will definitely make more mess than is socially acceptable...

~ I don't want to spend my week's wage on the lunch bill for our multigenerational family...

So it got me thinking...

~ What if I could setup a deck chair or picnic blanket, or grab a spot in a marquee surrounded by lawns for the kids to run around on...

~ What if I could have a relaxed Mimosa, cocktail, glass of good quality wine, with some live music playing, kids doing activities and take a moment to actually breathe...

~ What if I could order some beautiful picnic food for my family, and graze all day rather than wait for a set meal to be served...

So I would love your feedback if something like that would suit you too?

Something less formal? Something easy?

To everyone who came through... thank you.

Whether you grabbed a quick coffee on the way to the game or settled in for a long lunch in the vines, we’re so grateful you chose to spend your Gather Round with us 🙏

Events like this mean more than just a busy weekend for us.

They allow us to support our incredible team of 20+ legends behind the scenes, and shine a light on the local Barossa producers we work with every day, from butchers to bakers to brewers.

With road closures, weekends like this don’t just happen… we create them.

And when we do, it’s a win for everyone.

Fingers crossed we get to do it all again next year 🤞😜
