The final Sunday of SALA ❤️🎨🍷

August has absolutely flown by, and this Sunday is your last chance to come and see the beautiful Corroboree Dream Art exhibition as part of the SALA Festival.

The works have brought so much colour, story and life to our walls this month, and there’s something pretty special about sitting down for lunch or a glass of wine surrounded by such beautiful pieces, with the vines just outside the window. ❤️

If you’ve been meaning to come and have a look, this weekend is the one!

Come for a wander through the exhibition, stay for a wine tasting or settle in for lunch at the Monkey Nut Café. 🍷

A huge thank you to Corroboree Dream Art for sharing these incredible works with us, and to everyone who has stopped, looked, asked questions and enjoyed the exhibition throughout August.

Last Sunday of SALA this weekend. ❤️

😱 I am not seeing rain on the forecast for A WHOLE WEEK 😱☀️

Is… is spring actually coming?! 😂🌸

Because I’ll be queueing up at 10:59am tomorrow for my vine-side table, a platter and a cold glass of Rosé, thank you very much. 😎🍷

We have survived winter, people. 💪

This International Dog Day, we’re raising a glass to Diego. ❤️🐾

Long before puppacinos became a regular occurrence at the Monkey Nut Café, there was Diego. 🐺

Our beautiful old wine dog, unofficial café supervisor, professional guest greeter, cheese taster and very important member of the family.

For years, you could find Diego around the Monkey Nut Café and Kies, usually keeping a watchful eye over proceedings from his favourite spot out the front.

We lost our beautiful boy a few years ago, but he certainly hasn't been forgotten. His photo still hangs proudly in the Cellar Door today. ❤️

Maybe Diego is part of the reason we're so completely and utterly dog obsessed at the Monkey Nut.

Dogs are welcome here all day, every day. There are water bowls, puppacinos and plenty of pats waiting, and they're even welcome inside the Kies Cellar Door.

Because anyone who has loved a dog knows they're never just a dog.

So this International Dog Day, we're raising a glass to Diego, and to all the beautiful dogs we've loved and lost along the way. 🍷🐾

We still miss you, Diego. ❤️

And we'd love to see the dogs that have a piece of your heart too. Pop a photo of your best mate in the comments. 🐶❤️

Now is a VERY good time to come and while away an afternoon at the Monkey Nut… 🍷☀️

Our friends (and family 😂) next door at Kies Family Wines have just put together all of their latest wine awards and reviews and, well… **have a look at that list! 👇**

Even better, you can taste your way through many of these new release, now award-winning wines right here at Kies, then wander into the Monkey Nut for lunch, a glass of your favourite and a lazy afternoon overlooking the Barossa Ranges.

Wine tasting ✔️
Lunch ✔️
Award-winning Barossa wine ✔️
Absolutely no need to rush home ✔️😂

Congratulations to Bronson and the whole Kies winemaking team. We might be slightly biased over here at the Monkey Nut, but we're pretty proud to be pouring these wines. ❤️🍷

Over the last few months, we’ve had an email here and there letting us know that one of our wines has picked up an award, a medal or a great review.

Each one has been pretty exciting.

But today we actually sat down and put all of the results together… and I mean... What?! 😂

They are seriously impressive.

As a team, we know our wines are excellent. We drink them daily 😬🍷🤣, we serve them every day and we see how much our customers love them.

But when that is backed up again and again by different independent wine shows and reviewers, it really does mean something.

So, here’s what has been rolling in lately:

When you actually see it all written down like that… far out, Brons.

So, to my brother Bronson, a massive, massive congratulations.

Behind your back, I regularly refer to you as a fussy winemaker and a mad scientist. 😂

But honestly… thank God you are.

I could never do what you do.

There is something really special about seeing the fruit grown on our family estate, being treated with so much care and respect and turned into the very best wines you can possibly make.

But I think there’s something else that makes Bronson a little different.

Before he was our winemaker, he spent 10 years in the Cellar Door.

He knows our customers.

He knows exactly what people love about the Deer Stalker. He knows the birthdays, weddings and Christmases celebrated with a bottle of Sparkling Tina. He knows the big Barossa reds people reach for on a cold winter night.

And I genuinely think that’s part of the reason our customers connect with these wines so much.

They are made for them. Precisely.

So congratulations, Brons. We are incredibly proud of you.

And a massive thank you to every single person who chooses Kies Wines. Whether you’ve been drinking them for 30 years or discovered us last weekend, you are the reason we get to keep doing this.

You put a smile on our faces every day.

And here’s cheers to the next generation of little Kies kids already running around these grounds… who might one day be growing the grapes, making the wine and welcoming the customers themselves. ❤️🍷

Congratulations, Uncle Brons. You are a mad scientist, in the very best way possible. 🤣🙌

Let's chat about Father's Day... 🙏😍

Because let's be honest...

Sometimes Father's Day can mean squeezing into a restaurant, trying to keep the kids entertained, or staying home to cook and clean up afterwards.

As a Mum of two young kids, restaurants, set menus and indoor dining spaces can be super stressful.

So I thought this year, why not do something different?

Something where the kids can run around and kick the footy 🏈

Something where the adults can chillax with a nice Barossa Craft Beer, or a Kies Family Wines White Shiraz or Deer Stalker Merlot?

Something where the whole family can enjoy some live tunes, and make the whole day a little bit more special...

So we would absolutely love to welcome you to our Father's Day Festival 🙏❤️ All the official deets below 👇

---------------

Join us at Monkey Nut Café and Kies Family Wines for a relaxed Father's Day celebration in the heart of the Barossa.

🎶 Live music from Joe Ahern and The Cutters all afternoon.

🍖 Delicious Monkey Nut Café favourites, low and slow meats and a kids' menu.

🍷 Kies Wines, Rehn Bier, cocktails and all your favourite local drinks.

⚽ Wide open lawns, kids' activities and plenty of room to kick the footy, play and simply enjoy being together. We are line marking a little footy oval for the kids, with posts and everything ha ha 🤣👌

Because one day, these ordinary Sundays become the stories your family tells for years to come.

So gather the grandparents, bring the kids, invite the whole family and celebrate Father's Day the way it should be, relaxed, fun and filled with great memories.

We'll take care of the cooking, the drinks and the entertainment.

You just enjoy the time together. ❤️

🎟️ Tickets are available now. We'll pop the link in the comments.

My new favourite thing is partnering with Barossa Wildlife Rescue 🙏🦘❤️

These guys work so so hard and think about what would happen if we didn't have someone local to come and rescue baby joeys and wombats and possums and all sorts, often at all hours of the night. 🙌

Thank you all so much for visiting these school holidays and helping these guys out with donations!

Our goal was to raise $750 and we got to $712 🫣

Why $750? Well it costs $750 for one bag of Kangaroo food 🫣😱... I know...

So if anyone can spare the extra $38 I'll pop the link in the comments where you can donate! Even $5 is a massive help and they would be so so grateful ❤️🙏

A little bit of honesty...

This weekend we introduced QR code ordering at Monkey Nut Café, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

To be completely transparent, we've had some wonderful feedback from guests who loved being able to order whenever they were ready, skip the queue and even have another coffee or glass of wine delivered without leaving the table.

We've also had some guests tell us they simply prefer talking to a person, and I completely understand that too.

As our café has grown, we're always looking for ways to improve the experience. The reality is that on our busiest weekends we can be serving hundreds of guests, and we want to find better ways to reduce queues while still delivering the warm, genuine hospitality we're known for.

One thing I do want to reassure everyone about is this...

QR ordering is here to complement our customer service, not replace it.

If you'd rather order with one of our amazing team members, please do. Our team will always be happy to take your order at the table or help you use the QR system if you'd like a hand.

Our goal has never been to remove the human touch. In fact, it's the opposite. If technology can take away some of the waiting, it gives our team more time to deliver food, check in on tables, have conversations and look after people.

In fact, we are looking at taking on some new team members as we have had 26 applications over the weekend for roles at our place, which is super exciting.

I'd genuinely love to hear your honest thoughts.

Did you use the QR ordering this weekend?
What did you like?
What could we improve?

We're listening, we're learning, and as always, we're committed to making Monkey Nut Café a place where everyone feels genuinely welcome.

Thanks for helping us make it better. ❤️

We are looking for some amazing people to join our squad 😍🤣All the details in the post below 🙌

We are looking for some amazing people to join our squad 😍🤣

All the details in the post below 🙌

Do you know any awesome humans looking for work? 😍

So above the door at our place is a sign that says "Striving to be the friendliest and the best cellar door in the Barossa Valley" and boy do we try... 😅

But as we keep growing, we need to welcome some more amazing people into our family, so we can keep up this level of customer service.

So if you, or someone you know is looking for work, we are hiring across all facets of the business and would love to hear from you...

PLEASE NOTE: We are a very busy little place and it's super fast paced ha ha I'm just giving you the heads up 😂❤️

I'll pop a link below with how to apply... 🙏
