What's the best thing you've ever eaten from a service station? 🚗🍴

It turns out some of the best road trip food can be found at the local servo.

During a travel segment on 891 ABC Adelaide's Mornings with Rory McClaren, Good Food Guide editor Max Brearley said that while he enjoys fine dining, he's also a fan of a local service station that serves exceptional Vietnamese bánh mì rolls.

ABC Listeners were quick to share their own favourites:

🫓 "The Kimba Roadhouse is worth a stop. An Indian family took it over about a decade ago and their curries are to die for," Geoff from Cumberland Park said.

🦞 "Crayfish sandwiches at the Kingston South East servo."

I’ve never been a love of red velvet. I just see it as a bland chocolate cake.
But my brother in law bought a cream cheese stuffed cookie when we had a family get together a few months back & I had a little taste & was hooked!
So today I made a batch of them & I was impressed! My daughter told me they were the best cookies I’ve ever made & even my son who isn’t keen on white chocolate was sniffing around for a second!
Next on the list are kinder bueno & biscoff stuffed ones!
Who would be keen for me to sell these every now & then? Unfortunately they’re not cheap to make so they would probably be around $6/$7 each.

I’m currently on a journey to making the perfect cinnamon scrolls! This batch was made using the Tangzhong method - making a paste out of flour which is added to the dough to make it extra light & fluffy for days.
The family thinks my last batch was the best I’ve made so we’ll see what they say about this lot!
And if they’re not perfect - I guess I’ll just have to keep trying….😝

My relationship with fondant has certainly evolved over the last few years! I used to hate working with it & wouldn’t do many cakes that required large amounts of fondant; but I’ve slowly challenged myself & almost find them enjoyable now….! 😝 This was a fun one to make for Jonny - the boss over at MIGHTY MIGHTY Coffee Roasters ☕️
