Bygones' tearooms offers tea time treats and lunches. Bookings for the tearooms call 1800 663 619 Bygone Beautys Treasured Teapot Museum & Tearooms is nestled in the village of Leura within the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The Treasured Teapot Museum offers visitors a truly memorable experience – so don’t forget your camera! The Museum Admission of $5.50 per person is redeemed with an equivalent purchase in the tearooms or retail area. The ultimate indulgent experience is to enjoy the famous silver-service Traditional High Tea or the ever-popular Devonshire Tea in the Bygone Beautys Tearooms. Visitors can purchase estate jewellery (gold, silver and diamonds), antiques, collectables and contemporary quality gifts - all scattered throughout the emporium. On most days you may catch the proprietor, Maurice Cooper OAM, (better known as The Teapot Man or Mr Teapot) serving customers at the front desk. Maurice will be easily recognisable wearing a bow tie, and will probably be in the midst of selling a diamond ring to a customer. Maurice and some of the staff are themsleves great examples of Bygone Beautys! Between February 2014 and August 2015, Bygone Beautys undertook major extensions and renovations including a new museum space featuring more than 5,500 teapots (some debuting publically for the first time), function room, formal tearoom and retail area specialising in all things tea-related. The revamp has been steeped to perfection and is now ready to savour.

🍓 BEHIND THE SCENES AT BYGONE BEAUTYS ☕️
There’s something wonderfully timeless about a Devonshire Tea — but before it arrives at your table, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes!
Scones need to be made, cream needs to be whipped and Bygone's special blend of jam needs to be made all before teapots are filled and cups and saucers are carefully set out, ready for that all-important pot of tea. 🫖
Then it all comes together — warm scones, jam, cream and a freshly brewed pot of tea — ready for you to sit back, relax and enjoy a little old-fashioned indulgence. ❤️

🥄 TUESDAY TEA TRIVIA – The Humble Teaspoon 🫖
It may be one of the smallest things on the tea table, but the teaspoon has quite a history!
Small spoons have been used for centuries, but the teaspoon as we know it became increasingly popular in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries, as tea drinking became fashionable. Tea was an expensive luxury, served in small quantities, so a suitably delicate spoon was needed to measure the precious leaves and stir the drink.
🥄 Early teaspoons were often made from silver and could be beautifully decorated, making them as much a sign of wealth and status as the fine china they accompanied.
As tea became more affordable and widely enjoyed, teaspoons became an everyday household item. By the 19th century, matching teaspoons were commonly included in elaborate tea services alongside teapots, sugar bowls and milk jugs.
And here’s an interesting bit of trivia: “teaspoon” eventually became a recognised unit of measurement. Today, a standard metric teaspoon is 5 millilitres — although the little spoon sitting beside your teacup may not hold exactly that amount!
From measuring precious tea leaves to stirring our morning cuppa, the humble teaspoon has earned its place at the tea table. ☕🥄

🫖 TEAPOT OF THE WEEK – Humpty Dumpty 🫖
This week’s featured teapot is sure to bring back a few childhood memories! Meet Humpty Dumpty, a wonderfully whimsical novelty teapot made by Lingard Webster & Jones in England during the 1930s.

Humpty is quite literally “sat on the wall”, with his legs dangling over the brickwork. His egg-shaped body forms part of the lid, while the body of the teapot has been cleverly designed to resemble the brick wall beneath him.

Lingard Webster & Jones once proudly promoted themselves as “The Teapot Specialists of England Since 1867.” From the 1930s through to the 1950s, the British pottery company became particularly successful with its delightful nursery-rhyme novelty teapots, which also included The Old Woman in a Shoe. The company eventually ceased production in 1972.

💚 Humpty Dumpty was produced in a vintage lime green with silver leaf detailing, as well as a bright yellow version with gold detailing. The yellow examples are considerably rarer, making them particularly sought after by collectors.

And did you know? The origins of the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme remain something of a mystery. The first recorded versions date back to late 18th-century England, and even the meaning of the character has been the subject of several different theories over the years.

Research has found a relationship between anticipating positive future experiences and greater wellbeing, while studies of people experiencing depressive symptoms have found that looking forward to uplifting events can be associated with improvements in mood.
