Tonight is the end of an era.
After 22 years, the pizza shop has officially closed its doors for the last time. It's hard to find the words to express just how much this journey has meant to our family.
Mum and Dad, I am so incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. For over two decades, you poured your hearts, time, energy and countless sacrifices into building something truly special. What started as a business became a second home, a gathering place for the community, and a huge part of our family's story.
I was only 8 years old when this journey began, and my sister was just 4. We grew up alongside the shop. I had my very first job there at 14 and a half, and my sister spent so much of her childhood there too. Some of my biggest memories are tied to those walls, the customers, the busy nights, and watching you both work harder than anyone I know.
There were countless nights where you were still working while we were being looked after, and although that meant sacrifices for all of us, it also gave us something special. We were lucky enough to spend so much time with our grandparents on weekends and create memories with them that we will cherish forever. Looking back now, I can see just how much you both gave up and how hard you worked to provide for our family.
I also want to acknowledge my sister, who worked tirelessly alongside Mum and Dad over the years. The shop wasn't just their life—it became hers too. She gave so much of her time, energy and dedication to helping keep everything running, and I know how much hard work she put into making the business what it was.
A huge thank you also goes to her fiancé and to my partner, who were always willing to step in and help whenever they could. Whether it was deliveries, lending a hand during busy periods, or simply being there when extra support was needed, their help never went unnoticed. The shop truly became a family effort, with everyone pitching in to help make it succeed.
What makes this even more special is that before I ever met my partner, he and my stepson were already regular customers at the shop. Long before we became a family, they were walking through those same doors, picking up pizzas and creating memories of their own. My stepson still talks about how much he loved coming in when he was little, and it feels so special knowing that a place that meant so much to my family was already a part of his childhood too. It's funny how life comes full circle like that.
And now, seeing the shop through my daughter's eyes has made it even more special. Some of her happiest memories are of walking through those doors, grabbing a pizza, popping in for a quick hello, and of course asking Nanny and Aunty for chocolate eggs. Without fail, the answer was always, "Of course, as long as Mummy says yes!" The excitement on her face every time she visited, the familiar smiles waiting for her, and the love she felt there are memories she will carry with her forever. The shop became part of her childhood too, just as it was such a huge part of ours.
The dedication, determination and resilience shown by all of you is something I have always admired. Through every challenge, long day, late night and busy weekend, you kept going. Together, you built not only a successful business but a community that genuinely loved and supported you. The loyalty of your customers over the years speaks volumes about the kind of people you are.
Thank you for everything you have done for my sister and me. Thank you for the opportunities, the support, the lessons, and the example you set. The shop may have closed its doors tonight, but the memories, friendships, and impact you've made will live on forever.
I couldn't be prouder of our family and everything that was achieved over these 22 years. What you've built is far more than a pizza shop—it is a legacy of hard work, sacrifice, love, family, and community.
While the doors may have closed, the stories, laughter, friendships, and memories created within those walls will never fade. We are so lucky to have been part of it all.
Congratulations on an incredible 22 years. I hope tonight, amidst all the emotions, you can reflect on what an extraordinary achievement this has been and just how many lives you've touched along the way.
