Hi everyone, it’s Sophie.
Today, I wanted to finally share something with everyone who supported and loved SEOUL ST. over the years — something I haven’t really been able to talk about until now.
As many of you may know, my husband and I were part of SEOUL ST. from the very beginning. We were involved in almost every aspect of the restaurant — from the food and marketing to managing the staff and the day-to-day running of the business.
SEOUL ST. was much more than just a workplace to us. We put a huge part of our lives into building it from the ground up.
One of the things I loved most was getting to know our regular customers, having a chat with you, hearing your feedback, and seeing familiar faces come through the door. The people of Laurieton were incredibly supportive and welcoming, and that made our time there very special to us.
However, in February 2025, my husband and I were suddenly dismissed without any prior notice.
If there had been concerns or disagreements about the way the restaurant was being run, I believe they could have been discussed and worked through. Unfortunately, we were never given that opportunity. Overnight, we were no longer part of a restaurant we had spent years helping to build, and we didn’t even have the chance to properly say goodbye to our customers or our staff.
The reasons given for our dismissal were not true, and the matter later went through the Fair Work Commission, where our dismissals were found to be unfair.
Because there were legal matters and a number of other issues that needed to be resolved, it wasn’t something we felt we could speak openly about at the time.
Now that things have finally settled, I feel like it’s time to say the goodbye we never had the chance to say.
To everyone in Laurieton who supported us and enjoyed our food over those three and a half years — thank you, genuinely. Thank you for coming back, for sharing your feedback, for your kind words, and for celebrating the good moments with us. Those are memories we will always carry with us.
And most importantly, to every staff member who worked alongside us — thank you. We went through a lot together, worked incredibly hard, shared plenty of laughs, and made some wonderful memories along the way.
Things may not have ended the way we had hoped, but I don’t want the way it ended to take away from the three and a half years we spent in Laurieton or all the wonderful people we met there.
We’re grateful that, despite everything, we can look back and remember so many good times.
Thank you for everything, Laurieton.
We wish all of you nothing but happiness and all the very best for the future.
Thank you, Laurieton.
And goodbye, SEOUL ST. ❤️
