HANGED: EX*****ON IN THE TOP END

Our final Speaker’s Night for 2026 is a fascinating one.

Join us at historic Burnett House as historian
Dr Derek Pugh presents Hanged: Ex*****on in the Top End. The first complete history of frontier justice and capital punishment in Australia’s tropical north.

Drawing on court records and prison files,
Dr Pugh reconstructs the true stories of ten condemned men and reveals the workings of a remote legal system on the fringes of the British Empire.
