As Kyabram celebrates 150 years, we’re reflecting on the history of our building and the part we’ve been lucky enough to play in this wonderful community.
Our building holds a special place in Kyabram’s history, having been the first two-storey building in town. Over the years, it has served many purposes, operating as a saddlery and harness shop, a law firm, a confectionery shop, a café, a fruit and vegetable shop, and a seed and nursery business.
The shop has been operating as a bakery since 1940, making it a part of Kyabram’s history for more than 85 years. Russell’s connection to the bakery goes back even further than our ownership, having completed his apprenticeship here when the business was owned by the Treloars.
Our own story with the bakery began in 2006, when we first purchased the business. In 2008, we removed the dividing wall to create a seating area where our customers could sit back, enjoy a coffee and something delicious, and catch up with friends.
Over the past 20 years, we’ve celebrated many milestones within these walls. From winning awards for our quality products and watching our own children grow up, to employing local staff and supporting other local businesses, this store has been part of so many special memories.
We’ve weathered our fair share of challenges, too, surviving droughts, floods, fires and a global pandemic. Throughout it all, our community has continued to support us, and we’ve been proud to give back through local sponsorships, donations and community involvement.
Most importantly, we’ve made countless friends, shared plenty of laughs and created memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.
As Kyabram celebrates 150 years, we’re proud to be part of its story and to continue a tradition that has been part of this town for generations. We look forward to many more years of serving our community with the quality products you know and love.
