To all of my awesome customers I would like to extend a most heartfelt THANK YOU for being part of the Sprout experience and all of the laughs, tears and joy that you have brought to my life. A special shout out needs to go to the Table of Knowlege (you know who you are ♥️) Their constant support whilst I was learning the ropes, throughout Covid and onwards when times get stupid busy have not gone unnoticed and YOU are very much appreciated. We also have the OG's whose orders we know by heart and their presence gives us stability when things get tough.
Choosing to cease trading as Sprout Juice and Coffee Bar has been a very hard decision but one that I felt I needed to make due to some physical issues I was having that require treatment and were being exacerbated by working on my feet. It was also a very hard business choice to make seeing that we had just had our biggest year trading and in most likelihood the trend upward would continue. Sometimes the right choice is the one that allows us to change direction in life professionally, emotionally and physically and I am happy with my decision.
I have employed so many fantastic local people over the past nine years around fifty in total and every single one of them has brought something unique to the business that has contributed to the success of Sprout. I have learnt an incredible amount about staff (people) management which has made me a more patient and compassionate person all round. Dealing with diversity on a daily basis gives you a very grounded outlook on life. I am in no way a perfect boss and have made many mistakes along the way. I do hope though that I may have made a small impact on some lives to improve self-confidence, learn new skills and to move forward in life. This could be either in Kuranda, going to university or gaining employment elsewhere. No one should underestimate the joy of seeing a young person succeed in learning life skill in their first part time job. I thank all of my wonderful Juniors for joining Sprout and being part of the team. A special thank you to Nyuwarri Gilkerson and Elias Chibnall for working so hard these last few months to get us through to our closing date it has been truly challenging but also many laughs have been had.
I would like to thank my suppliers Cleall's Butchers, Stockade Farms, Mungalli, Cairns Produce, Curcio's Bakery, Max Stocks, Michelle B at Koah Gold Produce, Peggy Woodstock, Coffee NQ (Blackbird), Spice Z, Sweet Leaf, Hugh Cobham, Pinata, Mario and Carol, Enviromart , Nettie O Design and the many local farmgate suppliers we have in the area for locally grown fruit and vegetables. Also not forgetting my dedicated waste collectors making use of scraps and coffee grinds to minimise landfill and reduce my waste management costs. A special mention to the staff at the Kuranda Transfer Station.... especially when I accidentally drop a lid or hat into an empty bin that needs retrieving and also some great chats and laughs. So many people do so much to help local businesses and absolutely deserve the recognition. If I have missed anyone, apologies but I am already being reminded by Gayle (who also needs a shout out) to get this completed and emailed into the Kuranda Paper post haste.
Finally! I would like to say that though Sprout will be closing its doors this month a new venture will be opening early October, and I am very pleased that a couple of awesome locals in our community are going to take the plunge and bring their ideas to fruition. I do hope that they will enjoy the experience of being their own boss, being creative and engaging with the community in a very positive atmosphere. I wish them the best of luck and will help and support them as much as I can throughout their first few months of trading.
Thank you everyone ♥️
