With the wet season upon us we often get asked what happens to the bees in heavy rain

Bees sense changes in barometric pressure and humidity, often foraging intensely before a storm.
They stay inside the hive, conserving energy and waiting for conditions to improve.
If caught out, they find shelter under plants or in crevices.

Prolonged wet weather depletes honey stores, stressing the colony.
High humidity inside the hive during rainy spells can lead to mold and disease.
If bad weather occurs during peak foraging times, colonies can face serious risks of starvation
