This week, we said goodbye to our last backpacker for the season. 🧡

Over the past two seasons, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have some of the most generous, hardworking and genuinely lovely working holiday makers join the Blak Tapas team.

One of the things we have always loved most about hospitality and tourism is the natural cultural exchange that happens along the way. Our backpackers arrive ready to work, but they also bring their own cultures, experiences, and perspectives into our workplace. In return, they have the opportunity to learn about our people, culture, community, and this beautiful part of the world. It’s a genuine two-way exchange, and our team and workplace are richer because of it.

So, to all of our visiting team members who have chosen to spend part of their Australian journey working alongside us: thank you. We are so grateful for your hard work, generosity, and the friendships we have made along the way. We hope you leave the Kimberley with some very special memories—because you have certainly left us with plenty.

We've got something pretty exciting cooking behind the scenes 🍽️

Next week, the Blak Tapas team will be heading to Wuggubun Community Campground to cater AGM Week 2026.

The week brings together the Kimberley Land Council, Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre, Kimberley Language Resource Centre, Aarnja and Empowered Young Leaders.

Opportunities like this are about so much more than catering. We’re really honoured to be part of such an important gathering, coming together on Country, feeding mob and supporting the conversations and decisions shaping our people, culture, language and future.

It’s also a huge milestone for Blak Tapas - our biggest and most remote catering job yet, and an incredible opportunity for our team to grow our skills, confidence and experience.
