After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close The Fat Goose Kincumber, with our final day of trade on Friday 11 September 2026. Until then, we’ll continue operating as normal (Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 2pm).
This decision affects Kincumber only.
The Fat Goose Killcare continues trading as normal.
Operating costs have risen sharply across every part of our business, while the national cost‑of‑living crisis is reducing discretionary spending, especially in hospitality. Even with a full review of our operations, continuing at Kincumber is no longer viable. To protect the future of The Fat Goose, we need to simplify and focus on what is core.
We’ve consulted closely with Ella, and with all options explored, her role will conclude when Kincumber closes. She has been the heart of our Kincumber café, and we’re deeply grateful for the care and energy she’s brought to The Fat Goose.
From the beginning, the support from neighbouring businesses and local residents has meant the world to us. Your visits and your smiles have shaped the last 18 months, even on the days we seemed to be making iced lattes for half of Kincumber. They’re also a reminder that local hospitality venues survive when the people who love them keep showing up when they can. It’s not about sympathy, it’s about keeping the places you love alive. Small choices genuinely make a difference.
All The Fat Goose gift cards remain valid (with no expiry) and can be used at Killcare. For local businesses who regularly purchase gift cards, we’ll gladly refund any remaining balances if using them at Killcare isn’t practical.
