Did you know Barroul House began as a mixed dairy farm? 🌾🐄

Originally known as Retreat Farm, or simply Barroul, the property stretched from Barney Street and included what we now know as East Beach and Kendalls Beach. It has a long and proud connection to farming in our community.

That history is one of the reasons we're so passionate about supporting the people who continue that legacy today.
On Friday, 14th August, we're inviting all farmers, their families, friends and supporters to join us at Rubia's Café at Barroul House for Flannos for Farmers.

❤️ Throw on your favourite flanno. ☕ Buy a coffee, with $1 from every coffee sold donated to Flannos for Farmers. 🎟️ Grab a raffle ticket for your chance to win one of three $25 Jamberoo Valley Meats vouchers, generously donated by Jamberoo Valley Meats. Ever wondered what "Rubia" means? 🤍

We get asked all the time, so here's the story behind our name.

Rubia is a Spanish word meaning "blonde." It was the loving nickname my abuela (grandmother) always called me growing up, and it holds a very special place in my heart.

When it came time to name the café, I wanted something that felt personal, meaningful and full of love. Choosing Rubia's Café was my way of carrying a little piece of my abuela with me every day.

So, every coffee poured, every pie baked, every focaccia made and every sweet treat shared is done with the same warmth and love that inspired our name.
