Cook/Chef position at Bruny Island Gateway Cafe

(Approx 38-40hrs per week)
For this role you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals at Bruny Island Gateway Cafe at the Kettering Ferry Terminal from 7am to 2:30pm.

You will be expected to:

- Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of prep and presentation
- Communicate with reps and FOH staff
- Work independently and be self-motivated
- Reliable and Flexible work hours
- Cook both Breakfast and Lunch menu items
- Enforce hygiene regulations and Occupational Health and Safety
- Be creative and passionate about food

Requirements for role:
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
- cert. IV in commercial cookery preferred

We are seeking a casual position chef to work morning shifts Typically 7:00am-2:00pm. Bruny Island Gateway Cafe is situated by the Ferry Terminal in Kettering, Tasmania, its stunning panoramic water views and delicious food and coffee attract many tourists and locals alike.
Skills and Experience:
- Cert. IV in Commercial Cookery
- Minimum one year experience in a similar role, ideally a cafe environment or with breakfast & lunch menus.
- Good Communication skills
- Passionate about high quality work
- Ability to work under pressure
- Positive attitude
- Ability to work alone
Key Responsibilities:
- Food preparation and cooking
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Enforcing hygiene regulations
- Ensure ingredients and products are of good quality and stored correctly
- Contribute to controlling costs, food and labour
- Seasonal menu creation input
- Daily cleaning of the kitchen
