❤️ A MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY ❤️
This was never just about raising $3,900. It was about showing what our community can achieve when we come together.
We would like to take a moment to sincerely thank every single person who supported our fundraising dinner buffet for the disaster in Nepal.
What touched us most was not simply the money that was raised, but the community spirit, generosity and humanity that everyone demonstrated.
We could have simply donated some funds ourselves. That would have been much easier. But our purpose was bigger than that.
We wanted to create an opportunity where our customers, friends, families and wider community could come together, enjoy a meal, contribute whatever they could, and collectively show their support for people who are going through an incredibly difficult time.
And that is exactly what happened.
🇳🇵 OUR COMMUNITY CAME TOGETHER
To make this event possible, we invested approximately $1,300 in food ingredients and other expenses. Our entire family and team also worked for nearly 15 hours preparing, cooking, organising and making the event happen.
We did all of this willingly and wholeheartedly because we believed the event was about something much more important than ourselves.
The result was nearly $3,900 raised, which we have decided to distribute as:
🇳🇵 $2,000 — Friends of Himalayan Children Inc.
🇳🇵 $1,900 — Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund
But when we look at that $3,900, we don't see just a number.
We see hundreds of small acts of kindness coming together.
❤️ WHY THIS MATTERS
One person donating a large amount can certainly make a difference.
But when an entire community comes together, something even more meaningful happens.
People feel that they are not alone.
Our event was our small way of saying:
«“We may be far away, but we care. We may not be able to do everything, but we can do something — together.”»
That message, in our opinion, is worth far more than the amount of money raised.
🙏 WHY WE DID NOT ACCEPT DIRECT DONATIONS
During the event, many generous customers also offered to give us additional funds directly. We are genuinely thankful for the trust and generosity behind those offers.
However, we decided not to accept direct donations, because we are not a registered charity or professional disaster-relief organisation.
We believe that if people want to contribute further, they should do their own research and donate directly to an official, legitimate and transparent organisation or relief fund.
Unfortunately, during times of disaster, there can be a risk that money sent to unverified individuals, private accounts or unknown organisations may not reach the people who need it most.
We therefore feel it is more responsible to encourage everyone to make their own informed decision and donate directly through a channel they trust.
From our perspective, the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund provides a more official and secure avenue for disaster assistance, while reputable organisations with genuine involvement on the ground can also play an important role.
