We're all a bit down in the dumps about Slingtown's closing in Islington (will we ever get over it?) BUT you can still find us in Newcastle! We're in Newcastle East at Good Brother AND in Carrington at The Pavilion Kitchen, plus you can get our beans online at Slingtown :)

There are no words to thank these absolute SUPERSTARS who have been here everyday grinding away with us this week. Not only do they show up every day for more hard, crappy work, but they do it with total joy. Not an exaggeration to say we could not do it without you! And you have made this week feel joyous instead of tragic. Thanks also to everyone else who has helped us out this week. The Slingtown community lives on!

Heading into our last few days of service here at Slingtown and we wanted to shout out all our previous staff who made this place what it is today.

They've curated the music you've listened to while you have your morning coffee, designed art to be on our walls and boards, made friendships that went beyond just a shift, and brought the personalities to make this a place that feels like a home. From the parties to the mornings after and in between, they've made every day a great one.

Cheers to everyone of you who has come in and poured a bit of themself into every fibre of this place 🍻

After we “close” for the very last time next Sunday 23rd (😢) we will be having a little bbq for the whole community to come along and say farewell to a cafe that has been much loved over the last 20 years.

Some of our favourite local bands will be gracing our ears in the courtyard and we think it’s gonna be a ripper of an afternoon so make sure to fill your esky and cart it down to 3 Beaumont st Islington for one last hoorah! 🎉

Slingtown wouldn't be what it is today without the many staff who have worked with us over the past 20 years. We're heartbroken that this means the team we have with us now have to find new jobs.

We're hoping that despite this turn of events, whether they decide to stay in hospo or not, that they'll be the next star players for another place. They are some of the best workers you could possibly get in any venue. If you know of any work going around, please get in touch with us so we can pass it on to the staff!!

As this comes as a shock to a lot of our patrons, it's also a shock to our staff. They've worked through a pandemic, roofs caving in, floods and all sorts of everyday problems you might run into in a venue like ours. And with that, they've always taken it in stride, kept a smile on their faces and laughed about it afterwards. They're absolute troopers and we wish we could keep every single one of them forever. This place is better for having had them and whoever gets them next is very lucky ❤️

We'll be here until the clock runs out August 23rd - come say goodbye and get a parting coffee!!
