🎉 Celebrating Jess's next chapter 🎉

Yesterday we farewelled Jess from Laneway Café with a special afternoon tea as she steps into an exciting new journey.

Over the past three years, Jess has been part of our social enterprise learning program, building confidence, skills, and independence across all areas of café operations. We are incredibly proud of how far she has come and the determination she has shown along the way.

Jess is now heading into a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, with vocational placement at Bennett Road Kindergarten. We know she will thrive in this next chapter and can’t wait to see where it takes her.

From all of us at the Centre for Participation, congratulations Jess. We’re cheering you on every step of the way 💛

🔑 About the Role:
✨ Lead kitchen operations and support our amazing hospitality mentors.
✨ Prepare mouth-watering menu items for MOW, catering, and events.
✨ Train and mentor young people with additional needs and women from culturally diverse backgrounds.
✨ Be part of a movement that breaks barriers and creates opportunities.

📋 What We're Looking For:
💡 Experience in mentoring and supporting participants.
💡 Passion for working with diverse communities.
💡 Skills to execute marketing, quoting, and customer service.
💡 Bonus points for a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery!

Over the last couple of months, we have been preparing for some significant changes to our team, and it is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to not one but two of our shining stars, Jo & Korie. While we are incredibly sad to see them go, we are equally proud of their remarkable journeys of growth and achievement. We have loved supporting both these amazing humans on their upskilling adventures.

Jo’s time with us has been marked by her dedication to upskilling and her unwavering passion for our pathway learners. This sparked a light, and we supported her as she began her journey by advancing from her role as Kitchen Lead to pursuing a Certificate III in Individual Support, specialising in assisting people with disabilities. We are thrilled to share that Jo has now been offered a traineeship in a Diploma of Nursing! This exciting new chapter is a testament to her determination, compassion, and commitment to making a difference.

Korie our beautiful Lead Caffeinator and all things front of house! The effervescent and incredibly talented Korie sprinkled her glitter of being one of the hardest workers we have ever met, while sharing her infectious happiness and kindness. Korie is on an adventure in the support sector, and we are so excited to see her new space unfold.

We thank you both for the passion, skill, and warmth you’ve brought to the Laneway Kitchen. You will always be a cherished as part of our community, our family here at Centre For Participation, and we wish you both every success as you both embark on your incredible new journeys individually.
