8 days since the introduction of hire e-bikes in our City and they are being dumped everywhere. Even in front of our Town Hall. It was a stupid decision. Time to elect a Commonsense Council

After considerable thought and a stern talking-to from my alter ego, "Councillor Common sense", I have decided to stand again for Hobart City Council, this time as a candidate for Deputy Mayor.

Truth be told, I didn’t really want to return to politics. But when the children are misbehaving, sometimes Grandpa has to put down his cup of tea and ginger nut and stagger back into the chamber. I’m not returning because I think I know everything. I’m returning because I know enough to recognise when something simply doesn’t make sense.

I spent enough time in the Council chamber to understand the politics, the personalities and, more importantly, I know the rules of the snack bar... they always existed.

Some things in local government never change.

Of course opinion is the quickest way to attract criticism, so to all critics I say, go for it .....give Gramps your best shot. I've been called worse by better people.

Fifteen years ago, I didn’t put on weight—I created another entire second person. The scales tipped at 116 kilograms.

My blood pressure was through the roof, my heart was doing its own drum solo with palpitations, and I was becoming increasingly grumpy.

My medical advice was simple.

My doctor looked at me and said, “Christie, lose 40 kilos or die.” Only a mate talks like that

I considered both options, the first one sounded more appealing.

Changed my lifestyle, drank lots of herbal tea, particularly Lili’s “Happy Belly”. No teas loose weight, but Happy Belly sure did help. It was, and still is my daily support ‘go to’ at dinner
