Today is a tough day for Hobart hospitality.
Our hearts are with our neighbours and friends at the venues affected by today’s news. Two of those venues have been part of our Salamanca neighbourhood for years, helping create the vibrant hospitality scene that makes this part of Hobart so special.
More importantly, we’re thinking of the owners, staff, managers, chefs, bartenders, musicians, suppliers and support crews who have suddenly found themselves facing uncertainty.
Hospitality is such a small world, especially in Tasmania. Many of us have worked together, worked for each other, shared staff, shared suppliers and shared plenty of stories along the way.
Today, our thoughts are with everyone whose hard work, passion and dedication helped make these venues what they were.
Our hope is that the incredible talent, experience and passion of those affected won’t be out of work for long, and that the broader hospitality community can help keep these skilled people doing what they do best.
Be kind, support your local venues, and spare a thought for the people behind those venues today. ❤️
We may spend most days as competitors, and healthy competition is important in any industry. But today, we’ve lost some of the businesses that helped shape Salamanca and Hobart hospitality, and we’re simply members of the same hospitality community.
