URGENT PLEA FOR YOUR HELP – DONATIONS NEEDED
I need to ask the wonderful followers of Brightside for urgent help.
I started Brightside 15 years ago when I bought an empty 50 acre paddock and my daughter and I moved into an old caravan on the property. I have worked 6 to 7 days a week usually 10 hours a day ever since and I have had just 3 weeks holiday during that time. It’s been a rewarding but exhausting journey. It really has.
I have rescued and re homed over 10,000 animals and exposed horrific cruelty in factory farms. I have documented cruelty in puppy farms, horse sale yards, pig, chicken, rabbit and turkey factory farms which has left me unfortunately with post traumatic stress disorder.
I have spoken to over 50,000 students on animal rights/ welfare and presented at many conferences/ workshops, had many work experience school and vet students, worked with hoarders and lobbied for change for animals used in entertainment and farming. I was added to the Tasmanian Government Honour Roll for women for my service to animals but now I really need your help.
I cannot go on like this. I have severe burnout and need to slow down. I can not sustain this pace anymore. I just can’t. However we need to be there supporting our animals that need us.
We need to have staff to help with the feeding, cleaning, large animal care and greyhound training. We are a registered charity but receive no government funding, we also take more greyhounds than any other organisation in Tasmania.
We have found the most effective way is to have 4 casual staff as mornings are busiest and that way we can cover the busiest times each day with experienced help.
I’m calling out to you today to help us keep doing what we are doing. It is mentally and physically draining but worth it as we save so many precious animals.
Today we are looking to raise $50,000 to keep our rescue going, to be able to answer those calls for help whether it be in the morning or the middle of the night.
