The last few months have been like nothing our industry has ever experienced before. We were all forced to shut down for an extended period of time and whilst the government are doing their best to help our industry to recover some venues will never again hear the c***k of glasses, the pops of cork or the laughter of customers enjoying a night out.

With this in mind Carl and James have made a very hard but measured decision not to reopen Ettie’s restaurant. This was not a decision which was made lightly after weighing up all the costs of reopening, the reliance on the tourism market, the risk of another shut down, we didn’t have the confidence that a venue the size of Ettie’s could make it through the next 12 months and successfully trade into the “new normal”.

Firstly, we would like to thank all of the staff who have worked for us at Ettie’s over the last three and a half years especially Ronnie our head chef she has been a massive help and support over the last few months in helping us and being a sound board whilst we have navigated the new world of hospitality in what will be a post COVID 19 world. All our customers who supported us through our journey we opened this venue to bring some elegance back to the Hobart dining scene, we hope you enjoyed what we put together for you.

As we are making this decision of our own choice it’s not goodbye forever, we know how strong the Ettie’s brand is, and in the future will look to find a new beautiful space where we can bring Ettie’s back to the Hobart hospitality scene and when we do this we hope to see all your smiling faces again.

With the hard news we have all receive in the hospitality community over the past 24hrs, it is with disappointment that we at Ettie’s are closing our doors under the regulations of the Government for the foreseeable future.
We will be running a take away food and wine menu at our sister venue Willing Bros, this is an attempt to continue to provide everyone with all the things you enjoy and love about us.

We will be launching a combined Ettie’s and Willing Bros take away menu which will be available from Willing Bros starting this Tuesday. We will keep you informed of changes, we just ask for your support in this time of need. Support local, support us and our staff. We’re thankful for those who have over these tough couple of weeks and those who will continue to as well.

We will have adjusted menus and takeaway hours available soon, sit tight and keep an eye out for our updates! This isn’t goodbye forever, we will be back soon!

Like a lot of us are doing around town, we are providing you with all the comforts you need while staying in and looking after yourselves. We have created take away food and wine lists for your at home pleasure! You can find these on both our Instagram story and our page!

Call the restaurant on (03) 6231 1165 to place your order. (PICK UP ONLY) - We can run it out to your car and take payments via mobile eftpos.

We're still here doing what we can, so support your local businesses and treat yourself while at home.

To our customers, friends and families,

during this time we are still operating as normal with a few additions to our services.

We value everyone that is still coming in and supporting us and we encourage you to keep doing so. We have implemented all necessary protocols to ensure we are looking after everyone, the community and ourselves included.

To help reduce the risk of COVID-19 we have implemented some important practices :

- Setting a high standard of hygiene for hand washing, surfaces such as our tables, chairs, handles and doors.
- Removing tables from our dining spaces to adhere to social distancing
-Encouraging EFT TRANSACTIONS and PAYWAVE to reduce cash handling
-Changing to single use napkins
-Staying away from anyone that is sick and requesting that if you do feel unwell to please think twice before visiting us, this applies to our staff as well.

We are keeping ourselves updated with all the necessary information on a regular basis to ensure our practices are up to date and we are informed.

In saying this we are open for lunch and dinner Monday - Friday and dinner service on Saturday evening. We will keep you updated with any further changes, we hope to see you soon.

Most of us have no need to isolate ourselves at home at this time! Bars & Restaurants like ours are taking extra steps to continue to make sure this is the case, protecting staff and customers alike so you can still enjoy much needed time together.

It's together that we'll get through this and our Tassie businesses need your help now more than ever.

We're all connected and for every Tassie business such as ours that you support during this time, you're also supporting a raft of Tassie suppliers, producers, growers, winemakers, distillers and not to forget our staff.
